The facility is estimated to be worth over ₦480 billion.

Justice Musa Kakaki gave the ruling on Friday, July 24, 2026, after visiting the site in Mowe village for a physical inspection. The court had earlier heard from NDLEA’s first witness, a laboratory expert, who confirmed that the lab had the capacity to produce large quantities of methamphetamine for export.
The NDLEA said it uncovered the clandestine lab during a coordinated operation with foreign partners. Operatives seized about 2,419kg of methamphetamine and chemicals like toluene, hydrochloric acid, and acetone.
Ten suspects, including three Mexicans and seven Nigerians, were arrested and arraigned on July 10,2026 on 11 charges related to drug production and trafficking.
The agency described the operation as a major blow to a transnational drug syndicate run jointly by Nigerian and Mexican cartel members. The lab was hidden deep in the forest and equipped with industrial reactors and production vessels.
The defendants have all pleaded not guilty, and the case is ongoing.
