The former couple, who got married in 2015 and later separated, share a son. Their marriage was officially dissolved by an Abuja High Court in 2021.
Speaking in a video shared online, Ubi recalled the emotional struggles he faced before and after the marriage, including moments when Lilian returned her engagement ring.
He said: "Let me tell you a story, it's kind of a depressing one, but I'll tell you. On the 4th of January 2015, that was when I met my now ex-wife. I engaged her on the 19th of March 2015 and after the engagement, I set up a nice dinner at Eko Hotel. I invited all my friends, big boys, everybody. Guess what, she didn't turn up. She had dropped the ring and left. I was so embarrassed. It was a big thing on social media. Everybody was talking about it.
Have you ever cried to a point where you get to a certain level that you cannot cry again? That's where I was.
I couldn't stay in my house. I ran away to Iyanya's house to see if I could find her because she disappeared and nobody knew where she was. They finally called me and said they found her. I started asking questions about what could have happened, and I got nothing.
I checked into a hotel, I don't know how she knew my room, but I know that someone knocked on the door on the 21st of March 2015. When I opened the door, she was the one. When I asked why did you do this? She said ohh.. I just had a cold feet. She said sometimes when people are engaged... sometimes you feel that you are ready for something and when it finally happens, you find out you are not ready for it. Next thing, we started planning for the wedding. We flew to London and stayed for about a week. We landed Nigeria from London on the 6th of April 2015. That day was AY live, We dressed up, and went.. everything was beautiful. The next day, I just entered the room to see that she had dropped the ring on the bed and she had left.
That was another roller coaster.
So she got back sometime in June saying, right now I'm ready to get married.
I said Okay, fine. You start planning the wedding. She planned the wedding and we got married.
Unfortunately, we went our seperate ways. But, I will tell you something, we didn't go on social media to fight ourselves. We didn't kill anybody. We became good friends. Sometimes she is angry with me, sometimes I am angry at her.
I went through some crazy depressing positions. I remember one time, I bought a red CLA, and I drove that car to the 3rd mainland bridge to go and commit suicide.

The only luck I had was that my cousin came to save me. Several times I tried to commit suicide but he came to save me. I was so embarrassed. I didn't know what to do. I felt like What have I done to deserve all of this? I had a good career going on for myself. I had one of the biggest artists at the time in the country, and I felt this was just the time for me to settle down.
Sometimes, I feel this relationship didn't work because it was meant to be that way. Tell me, till today, I can't really explain what transpired. We are very good friends, we co-parent very well, and we celebrate events of our son. Sometimes I always believe that, regardless of all the pain, the best result that I got from that was my son.
The lesson I want you to learn here is that, I don't want you to think that when something happens to a human being, you have to hate the human being. No. That is not the case. If something happens between you and somebody, sometimes it's just an opportunity for you to learn from the process, learn from every other thing and keep it moving''.

It's well.
ReplyDeleteIt's well with you sir
ReplyDeleteYadiba...🤔
Wish you well Ubi
ReplyDeleteShe is bipolar .. she left you hanging twice ?? And yet you both went ahead to get married ?? … Guess you are both bi polar 😂😢🙄😂😢🙄
ReplyDeleteShe’s not bipolar, she just wasn’t sure of this guy
DeleteYou see your own defence abi, so how about Lilian? If ubi was your own and you realised that a lady he met in left her twice in space of 6 months after dumping her engagement ring you wouldnt just spew how she wasn't just sure. At that time the ubi was iyanya's manager and life was very fair on them hence she went there. Guy was short , not tall but she went for money. Period.
DeleteShe just wasn't into him not bipolar but unfortunately he didn't see it.
DeleteShe was dating a footballer then and she thought the footballer will propose to her, she ran back to Ubi when it was obvious to her that the footballer will not marry her, she never liked Ubi even though Ubi get him own for body.
DeleteThank God for your life bro. No need for bitterness .
ReplyDeleteI respect how calm both has been on this issue. Sir Ubi, please keep it that way. Fred and Peggy aren't forming gate here because someone decided to respect himself. Ubi find time to heal.
ReplyDeleteThe mistake any man will make is to love a woman who has no atom of emotional attachment to him.
ReplyDeleteLilian was so into Kenneth Omeruo, and had to settle for Ubi as a rebound.
Love yourself fess before loving someone else.
DOZZYBEST.
I solemnly agree with your first paragraph.
DeleteYou weren’t matured enough to move on quietly, Lilian did. Thank God she didn’t give you opportunity to drag her as you so crave
ReplyDeleteIt is mature not matured .
DeleteI think Lilian considered what they had at the time as a fling so the proposal came as a shock to her. It was obvious that Ubi loved her more and she was pressured into the marriage.
ReplyDeleteNa you talk wetin be dey koko
DeleteThis is typical ogbanje behaviour
ReplyDeleteWait o, is lilian Og.…......????
Love is blind indeed 😎
ReplyDeleteWas he the one involved with that woman in Lekki who eventually married a hair dealer and then got divorced again. Some strange funny story like that.
ReplyDeleteYes
DeleteIt's only a foolish man that would commit suicide because of a woman.
ReplyDeleteTo think we all thought the issue was Ubi. Well we haven't heard from Lilian yet.
ReplyDeleteHowever after the marriage broke, he just went haywire on impregnating spree. So that was a trauma response all the while? I really pray he heals totally. If all that he said is true, Lilian, you owe this young man an unqualified apology.
This guy has faced some serious embarrassments in his life. May he find victory over that spirit.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to tell this story tell it from a place of empowerment and triumph, if you can’t then never speak of it again. There is someone in this world for everyone, may you find your missing rib.
It's been how many years Bro. Ubi? Why did you feel the need to resurrect this again? Let me guess? You are not over her.
