The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, for allegedly killing his father and dumping his body in an abandoned well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area.
Police spokesman Suleiman Nguroje said the suspect was arrested after a report was received.
The victim’s body has been recovered and deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it will soon start talks with the Federal Government for a new national minimum wage. The labour union says the current N70,000 minimum wage is no longer enough for workers because of rising inflation and cost of living.
NLC President Joe Ajaero spoke through Deputy President Audu Titus Amba at the Rights of Workers Summit in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday. He told workers to get ready for fresh negotiations.
According to him, “Anything less than N500,000 cannot cater for workers. The current minimum wage is due for review, and we will soon begin negotiations with the government.”
He said N70,000 can no longer meet workers’ basic needs. Food, transport, rent and other things have become too expensive.
Trade Union Congress, TUC, President Festus Osifo also spoke at the event. He was represented by Secretary-General Nuhu Toro. He said the worsening economy has reduced what workers can buy with their salaries.
The current N70,000 minimum wage was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in July 2024. Labour says it has already been overtaken by inflation.
The NLC also said some states are already paying above N70,000. “Some states are paying N85,000, some are paying N100,000. It shows that N70,000 is no longer realistic or relevant,” Ajaero stated.
Labour said it will write to government soon to begin the process, which they expect to start by July 2026.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two men for exhuming a freshly buried body and stealing the casket in Uyo.
According to the police, the suspects are Elijah Edet, the manager of Mbiokporo Cemetery in Uyo, and Nsikak Effiong, a grave digger.
The state police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, said in a statement on Thursday, August 6, 2026 that the case was uncovered on August 3. She explained that a vigilant resident saw two men transporting a casket on an unregistered motorcycle at night and raised an alarm.
One of the suspects, identified as Effiong Asuquo, ran away. But Nsikak Effiong was caught and handed over to the police. During questioning, Effiong confessed that he and Asuquo dug up the grave, removed the corpse, and took the casket to sell it.
The police later recovered the stolen casket and the motorcycle. Further investigation led to the arrest of cemetery manager Elijah Matthew Edet. He allegedly admitted to working with the grave diggers. The police said investigation is still ongoing and that all those involved will face the law.
