Osun State Gov Adeleke Rejects EFCC Account Freeze, Vows Court Action

The EFCC froze an Osun State Government account after detecting sudden transfers linked to an ongoing probe into alleged mismanagement of about eleven billion naira in state funds.

Governor Ademola Adeleke condemned the move, calling it illegal and done without a court order. He says the state will challenge the freeze in court, and argued that the EFCC has no power to block a statutory allocation account.

The affected First Bank account reportedly handles workers’ salaries, raising concerns about payment delays. The EFCC insists the freeze is a preventive step and not politically motivated ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

  1. Why would Efcc freeze an account used in paying of civil servants? I hope this is not to bring bad name to the present governor
