You hustle abroad, stay awake to make money, and someone in Nigeria will eat your money without thinking twice.

There is a man in Ibadan whose daughter works in an Arab country. She sent him money to build something for herself at home. She even involved a trusted friend to help him buy land. But the father never bought even half a plot.
He sent her fake receipts and wrong pictures. She kept sending money for building, but he used everything to flex around town with women. Recently, she asked her old friend to check the building. He went there and found nothing. The father had been sending her pictures of someone else’s house.
She told the friend to confront him, but it became clear the father had been eating her sweat. She had to start again, sending money to the friend to buy land and begin a new building. The project is now at roofing level. The father does not know anything is happening. She only sends money for her younger siblings’ school fees, paid directly to the school.
The father has been reporting her to family members for “neglecting him,” but he never told them what he did. She finally revealed everything to his younger brother.
I wonder what enters people’s minds when their own blood abroad entrusts them with money. How do you wake up and decide that ripping someone off is the next move? What happened to making money while doing the right thing? If a father can do this to his daughter, what will siblings not do?
Sadly, whatever people abroad call Nigerians is exactly what some of us have become.
These things happen because of:
Entitlement mindset
Lack of accountabilit
Lack of discipline
