The academy was unveiled by the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Dr Hannatu Musawa, alongside Nollywood stakeholders and guild heads. Founded by serial investor Elder Wisdom Isaac, with multiple award‑winning filmmaker Obi Emelonye as pioneer rector, WIMPRO aims to provide affordable, hands‑on training in script writing, directing, content creation, AI filmmaking, cinematography, lighting, editing and more.
Minister Musawa described the academy as an investment in the future of African cinema and pledged her ministry’s support for initiatives that create jobs and expand Nigeria’s creative economy. She praised the founder and partners for building a platform that equips aspiring filmmakers with practical, industry‑ready skills.
Founder Wisdom Isaac said his vision was to create the best film academy in Nigeria, backed by world class facilities and international teaching standards. The Port Harcourt campus features air‑conditioned classrooms for over five hundred students, a fully equipped sound stage, a screening theatre, an actors’ studio, a twenty‑five unit editing suite and a two hundred‑capacity hostel. The curriculum was designed in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London, which will eventually accredit the academy’s certificates.
To drive the vision, WIMPRO appointed filmmaker Toka McBaror as Registrar, Prof Osi Okagbue as Dean of Studies, Mrs Eberechi Isaac as Dean of Students Affairs and David Nicholas Adora as Provost.
