She admitted she had a real phobia for marriage. The idea of becoming someone’s wife brought uncertainty and fear of the unknown. She also wanted to avoid the drama that often comes with public relationships. So she and her husband agreed on a low-key wedding in 2019 with only 50 guests, 25 invited by her and 25 by him.
“I didn’t want a lot of drama regarding my relationship,” she said. That small ceremony, she explained, helped them stay grounded and build their marriage without outside pressure or social media noise.
She said people keep claiming she is hiding her husband, but that is not true. “For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me know my husband. My husband is someone that we literally go almost everywhere together and they post his pictures. It’s just that people don’t know him.”
She explained that they attend church and events together. Media sometimes post his pictures. But her husband prefers to stay out of the spotlight. He does not post personal photos much and mostly shares faith-based content. Because he is not a celebrity, many people simply do not recognise him even when he is right there with her.
Ruth has said this approach has helped her marriage. There is no outside pressure on her husband, and she does not have to deal with public opinions affecting how they relate. She has also shared that she never felt pressured to marry and was not the type to daydream about it.
When they first met at work, she was not interested at first. She later felt strongly that he was the one, even though she blocked him shortly after. He kept trying, and months later they got engaged.
