It was a normal market day for Mrs Nkechi John, a trader, when she boarded a commercial bus from Uzuakoli heading to Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal. In the rush at Ubani Market, she alighted and, without realizing, left behind her bag. Inside was over N400,000 in cash plus other personal items.
Panic set in the moment she noticed. She rushed back to Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal. Fortunately, she met the driver, Mr Onyekachi Ikpendu, who had already secured the bag.
Instead of driving off, he waited, determined to return everything to its rightful owner.
For Mrs Nkechi John, it was a huge relief. For the driver, it was simply doing the right thing.
