Clancy’s lawyers argue that prosecutors failed to prove she understood her actions were wrong, stressing that all forensic experts, including those called by the state, agreed she suffered from severe mental illness, which her defense identifies as postpartum psychosis.
Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her children Cora, Dawson, and Callan before attempting suicide, an act that left her paralyzed.
Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, is invoking a legal rule that allows a judge to acquit a defendant if the evidence is insufficient, even after a hung jury. If granted, the ruling would block a retrial.
The motion will be heard on September 29, 2026 and will determine whether Clancy faces another trial or walks free under a not‑guilty ruling.
This story is really very shocking.....So nobody will pay for what happened top those three Innocent kids? Wont this verdict of not guilty if agreed to make more people commit these kinds of crimes to escape parenthood?
Strangled number 1, number 2 and number 3 successfully, but someone did not kill herself well. All of a sudden no gun to use on your head in that US. No be only Psychosis. Almost every mother has thought about running away from the stress of motherhood, but to strangle 3 kids, 3! I pray she is made to spend her life in a psychiatry hospital so the "Psychosis" doesn't make her kill again.
