Nigerian Footballer William Troost‑Ekong Reportedly Converts To Islam In Qatar

Former Super Eagles captain William Troost‑Ekong has reportedly officially converted to Islam in Qatar.
The 33‑year‑old defender recited the Shahada in Doha, formally accepting the Islamic faith.



Qatari newspaper Al‑Arab reported the news on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and a video of Troost‑Ekong taking the declaration of faith has gone viral online.
Troost‑Ekong currently plays for Al‑Ahli in the Qatar Stars League, where he has been active since joining the club earlier in the year.
