The car was stolen on September 9, 2026 by Singh’s newly hired driver, Waidi Olaide Kolawale, who had only worked for two days. He claimed he was going to fix a tyre, then disappeared with the vehicle.
Police electronically tracked the Camry to Ifo, Ogun State, and officers led by CSP Kamorudeen Olabisi found it at a hotel around 8:30 pm less than eight hours after the theft was reported.
Kolawole fled with the ignition key, but his alleged accomplice, Monday Adetunji, was arrested. The suspects had tried to get a mechanic to remove the catalytic converter, but the mechanic refused.
After confirming ownership, police handed the vehicle back to Mr Singh at the Ifo Divisional Headquarters. CP Bode Ojajuni praised the swift recovery and advised car owners to use tracking devices, steering locks, and to thoroughly vet anyone entrusted with their vehicles.
Police say the search for the fleeing driver continues.
Please oh why did they want to remove the catalytic converter? what does it do?
Stupid human being, he didn't have intention of working as a driver, but to steal, he should continue to run till he runs to his death.
