Actress Uche Ogbodo Advises Women In Unhappy Marriages

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has sent a strong message to women in unhappy marriages, advising them to choose self-love over suffering. Speaking on fidelity in marriage on Saturday Beats, Uche described herself as an advocate of 50-50 and insisted that faithfulness should go both ways. According to her, men should take responsibility for their actions instead of making excuses for cheating.

In her words: "I am an advocate for 50-50 in marriage. If you want me to be faithful to you, stay faithful to me. You just want (sexual) satisfaction? It's a desire that you can control. You can control yourself; you are not an animal. Why can't men stay the same? Why do men always make excuses for their failure? They always make excuses for their stupid behaviours."

The actress also urged women to know their worth and not be afraid to walk away when a relationship is no longer serving them.

"First, you have to know who you are as a woman, know your worth, what you want, and also love yourself enough. If you love yourself enough and know what your deal-breaker is in a relationship, and your wants and needs are not being met, then what are you doing in that relationship? I am not an advocate for suffering and smiling. If it is not working, you don't have to die there"

    2. You’ve deviated from the positive message she was trying to pass across and made it about something else entirely. How do all the things you’ve listed take away from the message itself? Is it okay for women to remain in abusive marriages? No. Is it wrong to encourage them to choose themselves and prioritise their happiness and well-being? No. So why attack the messenger while ignoring the truth in the message?

You don’t have to agree with everything about a person to acknowledge when they’ve said something worthwhile.
