Police Officers In Viral Ekiti Extortion Video Arrested And Taken To Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested the officers seen in a viral video threatening and attempting to extort a biker in Ekiti State.


The officers, attached to the Ekiti State Command, were filmed stopping a motorcyclist riding from Itapa to Ikole Ekiti. After asking for his licence and roadworthiness, one of them said:
“Here na Ekiti o. If you mess up here dem go finish you. If you wan go, arrange N20k.”
The video, reported on October 6 , 2026 by the Biker Association, FUOYE chapter, triggered nationwide outrage.

On Tuesday, the Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) confirmed that the officers have been moved to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where they are now facing disciplinary action as ordered by IGP Tunji Disu.
The Ekiti State Police Command had earlier condemned the behaviour, calling it extortion, intimidation, and unprofessional conduct, and stressed that no officer is allowed to collect money from the public.
