TEACHER LIFE
Over the summer, teachers were asked to make sure the children attended summer school.
There was this particular child who didn't attend at all.
His mother was quite close to the school owner, so she called to find out why her child wasn't coming.
The mother explained:
“Oh, his class teacher comes to our house for private lessons and advised me not to enrol him for summer school since she would be taking him for home lessons.”
Apparently, the teacher had told the mother this in confidence, probably thinking she was doing her a favour and helping her save the cost of summer school.
Unfortunately for her, the mother sold her out.
The owner asked, “Who is this teacher?”
She mentioned the name.

I watched a video on X of a man who had just arrived in Nigeria from Germany and saw the sufferings in Nigeria. He couldn't hold back his tears.
ReplyDeleteUntil you step outside the shores of Nigeria, you'll never understand what good governance is all about and how badly corrupt and messy Nigeria has become due to the abysmal and total failure of good governance. What baffles me most is seeing people who have lived abroad, or still live there, and have seen how governance should work, yet still support how deficient Nigeria has become. It leaves me speechless and makes me question their humanity.
People are truly suffering in this country.
Last week, I went to refill my gas. I wanted to buy 12kg when I heard a lady tell the pump attendant to give her gas worth of ₦200. Yes, you read that correctly, ₦200. I thought I didn't hear well until she paid.
As she was about to leave, I called her and asked, "What will that cook for you?" She smiled and said she just wanted to use it to warm her food. I had to pay for an additional 3kg for her and reduced mine from the initial 12kg I planned to buy.
The other day, I was buying things from a shop when a woman with a child strapped to her back finished buying foodstuff and felt like eating a snack she saw. She picked it, but just as she was about to leave, she realized she needed Hypo for laundry. She dropped the snack and picked the Hypo instead. She said something that touched me, even though she said it jokingly, "See wetin person wey no get money cause."
I told her to take the snack, this time two. I told the seller to add it to my bill. She thanked me excitedly. She gave one to her little daughter on her back, and I saw the smile on that little girl's face. How much was the snack? Just ₦200 for one.
The list is endless.
Due to the way I carry myself, people always assume I have figured life out or that everything is rosy for me. Funnily enough, I don't even have enough, but I'm always touched when I see the little help I can render. My prayer has always been for God to bless me beyond expectations so I can touch lives and help as many people as I can.
It's really not easy out there. Be kind in words and actions to everyone you meet out there.
