There's this chic who is a popular influencer on Facebook. We were classmates in secondary school and also attended the same university, in the same faculty but different departments.
Although, her kind of content is different from mine, we mostly share some of the same audience because we're in the same geographical location. On a few occasions, I've seen some of her followers comment on my posts and vice versa. I'm into feminism and gender equality, while she's into pick-me content and male validation.
Honestly, I never had a problem with the kind of content she creates because I genuinely believe the sky is big enough for everyone. That was until she started making snide remarks about feminists and divorced women, portraying them as toxic.
I understand the need to stay relevant and seek validation, but when it gets to the point where you start seeing another creator as a competitor or opponent, it stops making sense.
We haven't spoken since our university days, and I have no intention of dignifying her remarks with a response on my platform. However, her actions continues to leave a sour taste in my mouth and made me reflect on how the internet has become a tool for attacking and tearing one another down.
It's okay not to agree with someone or approve of their choices. However, when you resort to undermining another person just to feel better about yourself, that, to me, is toxicity.
She is on her lane, nah you dey go pokenose oh..She did not refer to you or anyone you know so you have no right to be so upset over what does not concern you at all my dear...Live and let live!

INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD
This is the longest I have gone without being pregnant or going through the new born stage since I got married.
I am finally getting my groove back little by little. The pain in my c section area has reduced drastically and I am feeling better. I am planning a solo date soon and I plan to be gone for most of the day, just some time out to celebrate my new freedom and finally crawling out of the new-born/ toddler trenches. ( I barely survived).
I am trying to decide if it should be a spa day or I should just go and hang out by the beach quietly where I can avoid interactions with other people as much as possible.
I am eagerly looking forward to my alone time and I am counting down to the day.
Go the Spa and thereafter, go shopping and go out to eat…..

What baffles me most is this now trendy selfish notion that everyone must live by our personal standards. We have normalized shaming people for their beliefs and values, and seriously, it’s appalling. Especially this recent trend of labelling women "pick me" or accusing them of seeking male validation simply because they choose not to be hostile towards men is exhausting. Yes, some views may seem dense, but that never justifies insulting or demeaning others for thinking differently. Feminism was never meant to be a tool to bully women into conformity. You don't like men, fine. But shaming other women because they don't side with women in situations or they are not nasty to men like you do? That's not feminism. That's bullying. You can not preach freedom while policing how other women choose to exercise theirs. We can disagree, we can debate, we can even educate, but the moment we resort to name-calling and public shaming, we lose the plot. Sisterhood should feel safe, not like a battlefield where you must agree to belong, seriously.

DeleteThere is a way out of all this miserable and painful life. You have children. You do not want to enter court case so you indirectly not thinking of divorce.
The only way out is to get someonthing doing. Get a job maybe 8-5pm.job. rent a shop. Enroll back to school. Just do something that takes you out of the house for hours every day. You need to make new friends, be scarce for some hours daily, make more money or get additional qualification. Up your standards and you will see things fall in place

Finally I have peace of mind after months of searching for an apartment.
ReplyDeleteOur former landlord is late, his children gathered and sold his only house and shared the proceeds, then the new owners gave us quit notice.
The notice was three months. As soon as we received the letter, I swung into action. Hubby goes to work and comes back at night, so I was the one available for house hunting. I only made videos and updated him while he provided the funds for logistics.
My eyes saw pepper. At a point, my cousin whom I lamented to told me to go into fasting and midnight prayer. She said back then, she had to fast and pray before she got a house of her choice.
I fasted, I prayed, I lose weight, I became darker as a result of walking in the sun for house inspection.
Not that there were no houses but they were too expensive, total package running into almost 2million for a house that is not even all that.. By the time we pay, we will paint, fix one or two things, pay truck for packing and we will be spending more than 2million to rent house, just a flat.. School fees staring us in the face, feeding, etc.
Agents now act as Devil's assistants. House rent of 1million, total package will be 1.7m. they will top the house rent with over 50% and make sure to justify each fee. They will take you to a rat house and make you pay their transportation fare, inspection fee and some even demand recharge cards for calls or data to send pictures.
To cut the long story short, the quit notice expired, they gave us one month extra, at this point i could not sleep with my two eyes closed anymore. I kept telling people that I know and those that I didn't know cos I was honestly tired of paying agents.
Then a week to the expiration of the extension, one of my customers called me and told me that her sister is moving out, I should come and see her so she will introduce me to her caretaker.
That was how we got a flat within our budget. Hallelujah!
