Dear God, Your Daughter Wants To Be Spoiled Too
God, abeg. I need to ask You a very important question. In my forty something years on this Earth, am I Your daughter or a generator? Because explain to me why nobody has ever looked at me and said, “Baby girl, I want to do something special for you. What would you like?”
Nobody has said, “Pack your bags, babe. I booked your return ticket and sorted your accommodation. Just show up and look beautiful.”
Baba God, how far?
Recently, a friend celebrated her birthday and someone gifted her a return ticket to one of Nigeria beautiful states, plus accommodation of her choice. I was genuinely happy for her, but somewhere between celebrating her and admiring her gift, I quietly asked God, “Daddy, excuse me. When is my own turn?”
I am a hardworking, career driven woman in her early forties. I have been independent since my mid twenties. My phones, clothes, shoes and other fine things? I can buy them myself.
But Daddy, that is not the point.
Your daughter wants to be spoiled too.
I want to receive a money bouquet and giggle like someone who has temporarily misplaced her home training. I want somebody to say, “Babe, let us go shopping. Buy whatever you want. Today, we are not checking prices.”
They say experience is the best teacher. Daddy, I am ready for practicals. Enough theory. Your daughter deserves premium spoiling.
I am grateful that I can take care of myself. But a woman can have her life together and still be somebody baby girl, right? Must I always be the one sorting things out? Can somebody not wake up one morning and decide that Ron must experience enjoyment?
Daddy, before I turn forty five, I am bringing this matter before You. Let somebody look at me and say, “Baby girl, I want to do something special for you,” in Jesus name. Amen.
P.S. If you are a woman reading this and you have been handling everything yourself, gather here. Let us take this matter to our Father together.
