NET Authentic List Of 12 Biggest Nigerian Artistes For 2013

Wizkid
Wizkid
1. Wizkid

After battling his label EME for a few months and setting up his StarBoy Entertainment, Wizkid quieted label exit rumours and released a number of chart-topping singles. He bagged a multi-million Naira endorsement deal with MTN and performed in Europe and several African countries.

Davido
2. Davido
O.B.O cemented his position as an A-list act covering the gap between him and friendly rival Wizkid. Extending his endorsement deal with MTN, the 21-year-old went on a 13-country European tour, performed in 5 African countries and dropped two of the biggest singles of 2013.

Psquare
3. Psquare
No album release this year, but Psquare dominated with two powerful singles ‘Alingo’ and ‘Personally’. The twins went on a US tour and visited quite a number of African countries. They also made big news as they both proposed to their baby mamas with Peter tying the knot in November.
Tiwa Savage
4. Tiwa Savage
Definitely the biggest female artiste in Nigeria in the last three years, Ms Savage released her hugely anticipated debut ‘Once Upon a Time’, extended her Pepsi endorsement deal, picked up a MOBO nomination and got married to her manager Tunji ‘Tee-Billz’ Balogun.
D’banj
5. D’banj
Banga Lee with his newly setup DB Records/DKM Media continued his reign as king this year – releasing the label’s first LP, bagging endorsement deals with Bank of Industry and re-kindling his romance withGLO.
Iyanya
6. Iyanya
The Pop singer released his highly commercial and successful second album ‘Iyanya VS Desire’, embarked on a very successful US tour, returned and bagged an endorsement deal with MTN, Solo Phones, Zinox Computers. He was named artiste of the year at the 2013 Headies, amongst many other decorations this year.
Olamide
7. Olamide
If all Olamide gained in 2012 was fame, in 2013 he added money and the power of influence to it. The Yoruba-lingo rapper broke into the commercial market with a few power singles and later dropped his third album ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’. He grabbed an Etisalat endorsement deal, dozens of awards – including three from The Headies. Add to that, the  viral Gunman pose.
Flavour
8. Flavour
Mr N’abania also went on a US tour as he continued to dominate the Highlife music genre in Nigeria and elsewhere. He increased his frontiers in South Africa and also bagged an endorsement deal with GLO.
KCEE
KCEE
9. KCEE
2013 saw KCEE perform at almost every event we attended. He has cemented his place in the A-list zone with hit singles ‘Limpopo’ and ‘Pullover’ feat Wizkid. He signed a multi-million Naira deal with MTN and then released his debut solo album ‘Take Over’.
Femi Kuti
10. Femi Kuti
Getting his fourth Grammy Awards nomination is enough for Afrobeat great Femi Kuti to be listed here. But we’ll still tell you that ‘Shoki Shoki’ finally warmed up to mainstream media, performing at quite a number of upscale events including ‘Night of the Masters’ and ‘Music Meets Runway’.
Ice Prince
11. Ice Prince
It was a fantastic year for Ice Prince, following his successful 2012 run. Dropping new singles, performing in several African countries, releasing his second album ‘Fire of Zamani’ and bagging a telecoms deal withEtisalat are what made him the hottest rapper in 2013.
2face Idibia
12. 2face Idibia
No new music this year but we couldn’t help but keep a tab on 2face Idibia, thanks to his N100m grand wedding. The artiste kept it smoking hot, going on a ‘2face Campus Tour’ and signing on for the Star Trek concert tour. Idibia made a power move few weeks back when he announced his rebranded label Hypertek Digital, with the legendary Victor Uwaifo as one of his signings.
*Do you agree with NET'S compilation?Should there be more names included?

  3. Exactly what I would have drawn as a list but with the removal of kcee to replace with don jazzy. If list is expanded to 11, then put kcee there.

I want to believe the list is in no particular order.

  13. This is the kinda list beer parlour bloggers would make... How much did wizkid make? So cuz he bagged an endorsement deal he should be ontop? Davido went on tour nd bagged an endorsement deal so dat makes him numba 2? Nonsense

  14. lool very very stupid list,i am sure its one of those paid 10k yo hype Nigerian artistes Seun Kuti who was driving along off allen avenue on a public holliday(sallah) saw a G wagon he likes and called the car dealer to meet him at his shop and immediately that day paid for the car cash money.
when he had to move from gbemisola he bought his house cash down, the average he charges for shows is £10,000 and upwards and he does that like 3-4 a month….Fela's estate alone is worth billions.

Femi kuti they added at the buttom forget the way he pretends and dresses is richer than 2face or dbanj..

go and find out how much they got from fela musical alone and how much a copy of fela's earliest original album is worth presently in european antique market

    1. I have been hearing rumour of your insanity but now I know that you are truly not well in the head. Biggest artiste in a year hs nothing do do with your financial worth in general. It is more about who buzzed in the year musically even if they are talentless like KCee.
Secondly, are you the car dealer that Gwagon to Seun or you know Seun too personally like you know everyone? If at all Seun charges what you claim, that will be like twice in a year for proper jazz festivals. Most of the other times when he plays in bars and pubs in Europe no one gives him any such amount. Besides, he has to share that amount with his 25 man band. E dey you like say wicke. Get band or Tina Wye be queen of autotune? All those ones use is just one dj to be playing the bears and dem go dey mime go.
Next time, think we'll before you type and don't irritate an intelligent reading public.

    2. Luca, please don't rubbish Seun by putting him on this mediocre list. He's a world artiste biko, not in the league of all these ones.

I'm surprised they put Femi there sef. Probably because they couldn't ignore his Grammy nomination.

  16. Olamide dropped 2 L.Ps dis year YBNL{late 2012}, and BGEL{2013} these two albums are d biggest u can have in d market @tm, he has been on every big show in the country and should be the highest grossing artiste dis year{2L.Ps, endorsements nd shows}...
2} D'banj - he started the year by releasing the theme song for the African Nations Cup in S.A, where he performed @d finals, went on to release the album DKM which content wise was utter thrash but market wise, was a sell-out!....
3} wizkid; signed on to Tinnie Tempah's Disturbing London this year, churned hit after hit, performed virtually everywhere in the world...
4} Banky W; R'n'B W had to be one of the best albums of 2013, both content wise and market wise... Bankole wellington keeps bringing in the ca$h...
5}Burna Boy - Aristocrat records burna boy dropped his album this year! And his Album was a smash hit, d kid performed in every concert and got a glo endorsement deal!...
6} Ice Prince zamani - with due respect to everyone in this list, i think ice-prince, olamide and D'banj were the top 3 earners this year, ice was performing everywhere in 2013, he became the biggest Nigerian act on the international scene{Nneka nd Asa still remain the top 2 Nigerian artistes in the World scene though}...

  21. Where is Phyno? That dude is most definitely the King of the East at least!

    ReplyDelete
  22. @anon 27
you are a demented and depreciating idiot.if i didn't know him personally or was present on allen avenue road when he bought the car would i be including it in my comment?
if the list has nothing to do with financial worth thats fair enough, but to exhibit your knowledge deficiency and then plug it with ignorant assumptions says a lot about the single cell in your brain..

seun kuti right from when motown signed him after he finished Uni has been earning nothing less than £10,000 and he earns considerably more presently..Femi earns nothing less than £30-40k PER SHOW average go and find out how much lagbaja or asha earns on their european tour talk less of the Kutis..

they dont play in bars like dbanj and others they play in proper theatres and massive venues what you dont know dont spill your stupid ignorant bile

    1. I still insist that you are not well in the head. Na only you dry know ecerybody. Now Seun Don join your long list. Where in that list did you get the idea that it was about their financial worth? Even after I mentioned it to you,you still insist on your £10k. Carry your senseless gist go sit down one side. You dey tell person wey no dey conversant with touring circuit? Next thing you go tell us say your senior brother na Seun tour manager? Ani seen na una choir director for Bola Memorial?
      Your famzing na die!!

      Delete
    2. Seun plays in three or two jazz festivals in a year, the rest na small time jams to make up while on tour.
No shame in that. Seun level never reach wetin you dey imagine.
Your problem is that you never accepted that your knowledge is limited.
You need deliverance from TB your mentor.

      Delete
    3. I did not dispute 10k, what I am correcting is your erroneous impression that the lad earns that all the time or that he plays in big concerts and festivals every time he flies out.
