Joan Rivers,Woman Extraordinaire Passes On...

Joan Alexandra Rosenberg (née Molinsky; June 8, 1933 – September 4, 2014), known by her stage name Joan Rivers, was an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and television host, best known for her stand-up comedy, for co-hosting the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police, and for starring in the reality series Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her daughter Melissa Rivers.

Rivers first came to prominence in 1965 as a guest on The Tonight Show, a
pioneering late-night program with interviews and comedy, hosted by Johnny Carson, whom she acknowledges as her mentor. The show established her particular comic style, poking fun at celebrities, but also at herself, often joking about her extensive plastic surgery.

When she launched a rival program, The Late Show, he never spoke to her again. She went on to host a successful daytime slot, The Joan Rivers Show, which won her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Her satirical style of humor, however, by focusing on the personal lives of celebrities and public figures, was sometimes criticized.

During her 55-year career as a comedian, her tough-talking style of satirical humor was both praised and criticized as being truthful, yet too personal, too gossipy, and very often abrasive. Nonetheless, with her ability to “tell it like it is,” she became a pioneer of contemporary stand-up comedy. Commenting about her style, she told biographer Gerald Nachman, “Maybe I started it. We're a very gossipy culture. All we want to know now is private lives.”

On August 28, 2014, Rivers experienced serious complications and stopped breathing during a procedure on her vocal cords, at a clinic in Yorkville, Manhattan. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and was put into a medically induced coma after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest.

On August 29, her daughter, Melissa, publicly stated that Joan was "resting comfortably" in the hospital.
On August 30, it was reported that Rivers had been put on life support.
Reports initially stated that Rivers' family might face ending her life support if her condition did not improve. However, on September 1, 2014, an unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight that Rivers' physicians at Mount Sinai Hospital had started the process of trying to bring her out of the coma on August 31. Prior to that, there had been no further medical updates beyond her daughter's statement.

On September 3, Melissa Rivers issued a brief statement that Rivers had been moved from Mount Sinai Hospital's intensive care unit into a private room, without any comment concerning Rivers's condition or prognosis.
The following day, September 4, 2014, Melissa announced via another statement that Rivers had died at the age of 81 at 1:17 p.m.

She will be buried on Sunday September 7th at the Temple Emanu-El in New York -
RIP.

Lately,I noticed that her voice was sounding somehow, that may be d reason she went to correct it o. Y did I tell her to make her voice sound better?y did I tell her she had no right to talk about our fashion faux pas when her voice she used to criticize was all cracky n hoarse?

  9. Oh, I couldn't sleep through out d night, just kept seeing Joan's face. She was an extra ordinary talkative, who joked too hard n didn't care who got angry, all she did was make a very funny joke over situations n Hollywood celebs which made me laff so hard. I once watched her on E! Saying should she die, a mini fan should be put in her coffin to ensure her hair keeps blowing up n down like that of Beyounce's hair. I laughed so hard, I almost broke a leg. She was that funny. I remembered a particular show of fashion police where she said Angelina Jolie's shoe was bleeding cos she had already paid for six of d chibok girls to be adopted by her, but unfortunately d girls got kidnapped. Gosh, my mouth was agape, I was like whaaaaaaaaat!!!!!! Ds mama is crazy n also a mental case. But above all these, I loved Joan, she brought smiles n laughter to my face whenever I watched Fashion Police. Fashion Police will be nothing without this comedian. I know Giulliana Rancic n Kelly Osborne will be d worst hit, she made Osborne laugh like crazy n somewhat made her laugh about her purple hair colour. Oh Joan if I can miss u ds way, then how is Mellisa feeling right now? May ur loving soul rest in peace Joan Rivers, a woman who came, saw n conquered, love u so much for making laugh so hard, God be with you Joan Rivers. Not forgetting Kevin, wonder how he is feeling right now!!! My joy is Joan lived for 81yrs, despite all d cosmetic surgeries.

She was d pioneer of celebrity gossip, which transitioned into things such as gossip blogs n other celebrity gossips platforms there is today. She made people laugh n I'm sure a lot of people are just saddened by d amount of laughter they will miss by her demise. No one is crying, her life is worth being celebrated. Even if my father lives up to 200yrs n dies, I will still be sad @d moment of his death. Wether I will live up to even 60yrs doesn't matter. What matters @d moment is that someone so liked n lovable has passed on, people who loved n liked her must definitely feel sad @her demise, even if she died @age 150.

  33. RIP Joan River. unapologetic wit... she doesn't take herself serious (why should you). started watch fashion police in my secondary school years, the ' 90s. then terms like "fined, Arrested ,sentenced" were used unlike the ones used in the recent (worst and best dressed) and even give awards, a golden hanger for best dressed and plaque for worst dressed. some celebs do collect it....
Fashion Police will not be fun without her! the last FP, when, Jessie J came on, she was almost losing her voice... she was as strong woman despite her. age, you need watch the Halloween episode, when she dressed as miley Cyrus; very energetic.
