Diezeani Appears Before London Police

Embattled former Nigerian Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke on Thursday afternoon finally appeared at a London Police Station.

According to new reports, Alison-Madueke was at the Charing Cross Police Station, London to honour the invitation by the authorities. She was granted bail on the same condition given earlier and asked to return to the station on 21 June.

In October last year, the former minister, who was one of the most powerful officials of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, was arrested by the UK National Crimes Agency, alongside four other people.

The charges against her were looting and money laundering in the United Kingdom using a network of relatives and businessmen.

Now this is how the law works

You are granted bail and allowed to go. Not rearrest you again for stupid charges

You go and wait for the date you are asked to come back again

Stella what do you mean by again?? Is it one day they use it finishing such matters?? Has she been proven guilty?? They will keep giving her new dates until they are thru with her..

Really sometimes your opinions don't matter in issues.. Just post the story and allow us talk about it.. Because now some daft readers will come and say again..

Ibori is waiting patiently to welcome her to prison.

U see the way they treat people with respect there? In Nigeria, EFCC,ICPC,DSS among others, will just barge into ur living home to search and scatter everything. Finally finally, they'll grant u bail but wont let you go home without approval from their main boss.Human rights is abused in Nigeria walahi!

Nigerian police should take a cue instead of playing politics of jailing and handcuffing they attended to her decently.Innocent until, proven guilty is the best.As for the holier than thous' who do worse in their closets keep baying for blood #mobsters.

Wishing her quick recovery.

Thank you ooo!! You can say it again! I wonder why sometimes she just doesn't write the story and leave us (the readers) to state our opinion. Most of the time her opinion is not relevant or outright stupid (No offense abeg). I don't even know if she thinks before posting. Sometimes reading her comments on a story (especially on chronicle of BVs) makes me so upset I have to hiss.

Don't comment on a legal system you know nothing about, if you don't know how the UK legal system works just shut up because you don't have to comment on everything.

blaque said...

Sweetheart, they granted her bail 'cos they're marking her closely. She cannot run away. But for Naija, grant them bail and the next day they're on an island in the Caribbean.

sisi eko said...

Preliminary hearing na Stella.

sisi eko said...

I'm sure she's happy staying in the UK cos she'll have time to attend to her health in peace. Not like in Nigeria. After all, that's what she went to the UK for initially, before dem summon her.

sisi eko said...

Don't wish her dead no matter what. Even if she's a thief, wishing her jail term would be more appropriate.

sisi eko said...

She will not die IJN. She will live to testify to the goodness of God and her case. Amen

I dont wish her death at all. Let her live long and face her crime. Female thief

See how the law works in advanced societies? If its naija its arrest and rearrest without facts and most times they lost the case for lack of facts which they do not take time to gather. My annoyance is the fact that most of our lawyers and judges have or more degrees from foreign universities yet they act like robots, is it a naija thing or what?

Olisa Metuh will prefer to be tried her than over there.
Have you seen where police will be calling you sweetheart, next thing them go knack 50yrs commot for ya life.
For here person wey dem give death sentence for this administration, next president will come and GBAM the person is free. PRESIDENTIAL PARDON.

Anonymous said...

Lmao...seriously oooo. British people,,,they will be treating you like egg until they give you one very nasty sentence, like play like play.
They will even cry with you and offer you handkerchief to clean your eyes. Then make sure you serve the term well.
Maybe as you re getting to the end of your jailterm, they will finish another investigation and knack you another sentence with handkerchief and hot tea.
