Labour Room Drama 129

Drama inside the labour room with a self named drama queen....

Hello Stella, thanks for your good works....

So my Lrd goes thus, it's very long so please bear with me....
My bp was getting high towards the end of a smooth pregnancy and my doctor said if the bp doesn't go down, he would be forced to induce me. (Na there thinking start, as i wanted a supernatural childbirth) I went for my normal antenatal at 37 weeks and the doctor said the baby is ready and if am ready too, he would induce me, I pretended to agree and ran away.

I had to go back for antenatal at 38 weeks nau. ASAP
I went , the doctor that is usually all smiles did not even bother smiling with me or doing any long talk. He just asked me to get my bag and go upstairs so I can be induced. Hian, I was like why are u not smiling nau ? He was like madam *****, please get your husband to get your bag and go upstairs .

Chei, this was a doctor that is usually all jokes and we always gist . I felt the BP was too high, hence, he dint see the need for any joke . Luckily for me, my husband followed me that day, I just went to the reception, saw him and signalled to him that let's go. On our way, I asked him to please stop at my bank as I needed to make a withdrawal (he had initially transferred all the money we will need for delivery to my account because he had an ongoing project then and dint want to use the money) after then i dint say a word again.

He kept asking me what was wrong and I dint answer . Only for him to park in front of the bank and I just started crying uncontrollably, Chei, I cried and cried and he just held me. After the cry, he asked what was wrong and I told him my doctor said I must bring my bag that day to be induced. He was like, that shouldn't make you cry nau, aren't you eager to meet our princess? And I was like, after all my prayers , I dint expect to be induced, I wanted to give birth like the Hebrew women. And his reply to me was that, an Hebrew woman is not someone who goes through a drama free delivery but someone who comes out alive and well with her baby.

That calmed me and we got the money and went back to the hospital. All this while,my babies bag was in the car oo, I was partially ready oo, I actually carried the bag in the morning before leaving for antenatal, so I didn't even understand why I was crying sef . We got to the hospital , and as a daddy and mummy's girl that I am nau, my hubby quickly called my parents , and before I knew it , my mom came, my dad came later after work, my younger sisters too came, chai. All this on top induction . My husband even called his pastor friend and that one too was around . I was just looking . Since I was going to be induced at 12am, they all left later after trying to cheer me up. It was just me and my mom.

Time to start the process came and the doctors came to call me to follow them, my mom insisted I must wear a free gown and even remove my bra (in her mind, it was time for delivery ) , I entered the room and one balloon like stuff was inserted in me, I guess to ripen the cervix.I was told to go back to my room. I was checked at 4am and I was 4cm, at about 8am I was taken to the delivery room and given an injection to start the inducement . All through , I took it all like a big girl because my mom had advised me not to shout , that if I shouted, I will loose strength . My hubby who came back the next morning was by my side gisting with me, at each contraction, i just held his hand really tight and after it passes, we continue gisting .

At one stage, after one strong contraction, silent tears just kept dropping from my eyes, hubby pecked my forehead and asked me to be strong for him and our baby . All this while I was still 4cm oo, see gobe... Different doctors came to put their hand to check (kai that thing can be painful ). At one stage I started contracting about 4 minutes apart, then 3 minute , still 4cm oo. I was just tired . A monitor stuff connected to my tummy, and I could hear my babies heartbeat, then I noticed it stared reducing , I just kept praying in my mind. At one stage, that was like 5pm, the doctor came to call my hubby and I dint see him again oo.

Meanwhile, i didn't know the doctor had advised CS because of my baby's heartbeat that was dropping .And my husband was told to pay for blood and also donate blood. Only for one big mouthed nurse to come and tell my mom that they were preparing the operating room for emergency Cs for me. Hmm, I just couldn't care less as I was already tired. My dad came in and advised me to be strong ,that CS was the next best option. I just started crying again . After they finished telling me sorry and all I told my parents that I just wanted to see my hubby and when he came , I just held his hand and told him to pray for me(I can be a drama queen) .

I hugged him for a long time Before the nurses came in to prepare me for the cs. Time for cs again and another drama, since it was an emergency , they weren't really ready, (big Abuja hospital oo) . There was no big needle to put the anaesthesia through my back. They kept trying with small needle and It just dint enter. After about 20 minutes , I was wheeled out to be taken to the bigger operating room where I was to be put to sleep . On our way to the other operating room, I saw my mom looking so scared with her hands on her head (kai, Yoruba mothers) . She was standing with my younger ones, my dad and my hubby. My younger ones looking so scared and confused. My dad smiled at me and hubby blew me a kiss. I just smiled at them as I was being wheeled away.

Getting to the bigger operating room, I dint remember anything, only for me to wake up feeling so cold. I tried shouting and my voice was cracked. I was told not to move my head or raise it. I sha signalled to a doctor and told them I was cold. Meanwhile the other doctors were busy laughing and even calling to order food oo, this was around 11pm on Tuesday. At last I was wheeled out, saw the relieve on my parents faces (was later told my baby was brought out and given to my mom about an hour ago and everyone was eager to see me) , I kept asking where my baby was and I was told she was doing good. I later got to see her beside me after I had been settled into the bed in my room(wish I didn't go through the stress of labour and all , if only I knew it was going to be Cs, I would have just gone for that straight, but I wasn't given the option before. I know better now tho ) ... I thank God for my daughter everyday . She is so cheerful and bright and is everyone's star (as the first grandchild that she is) .......

I am on my second journey now and I am hoping for the best ( am in the abroad now and hoping for a different stress free delivery by God's grace. )
Thanks for reading, hope I didn't bore you guys out, lol.
PS: been missing a lot of post due to time difference, chei. 6 hours difference no be joke. How do our abroad bvs do it?
Have a nice day y'all .

Please all of you that are congratulating this poster hope you are also giving her life changing advice. Pls wat is up with nigeria and these so called Hebrew women? WHY are we putting our lives and that of children at risk all in the name of natural childbirth? Two times this woman was warned. I know someone who died after her dr advised cs just because she wanted to be like the Hebrew women. SHE said cs was not her portion and went to church were they prayed and put olive oil and other concoction up her vagina. SHE developed an infection and was later rushed to hospital but died. she left two kids behind. We women need to be realistic nd informed. Then is not the same as now. our way of life our food everything. God gave these doctors the knowledge to help us. Pls women help yourselves. Spread d word, help a friend colleague or sister.

Madam u really took risk oh. Your BP was high and Doctor said you shld b induced and you ran away. Well I see ds as an act of ignorance. Cos anything cld have happened b4 ur next appointment. Pls women stop taking unnecessary risk in the name of supernatural birth or birthing like the Hebrew woman. Congrats and hope you are wiser.

Jesus!that is way too much for vigina delivery nau.
Check other clinics. I usually pay 30k for v birth in the clinic I use in Lagos. If you are in Ogba, then check Urbane Clinic. Its on Ajayi road in Ogba,Lagos.
