Lagos State University Shut Down Indefinitely.......Eku Stay At Home LASUITES!

I find it Barbaric that LASU students applied violence in dealing with the situation.
They almost killed the Vice chancellor...I don't care what he did, their actions were wrong!

When Students can find a better way to dealing with issues on campus instead of immediately applying the 'ALUTA CONTINUA' angel, then perhaps most of them will not be killed like chickens and returned to their suffering parents...perhaps if they use their brains.....?

I am sorry if this report angers any LASUITE reading this blog but the truth must be told...that demonstration might have held and ended well if barbarism and violence was not applied.

Enjoy your stay at home.

    3. Dear madam stella, I know Prof Obafunwa very well, he ll never listen, if not dat he was almost dealt with, he wldnt av listened, he wldnt av ran for his life...let me tell u dis, no one wishes to kill another, dey surely set out to have a peaceful protest, but d usual stubborn n inconsiderate Obafunwa, will never bulge!...do u know d average student who attends Lasu fends for himself or herself?...please, ur opinion on dis was very bad...just as Gov Amaechi said, its cos we av not stoned 'em politicians, dats why dey steal from d govt purse. Am begging u, u don't stay in dis country, obviously ur country is d type dat I av to smile from when I step in till I leave, and my angry face comes up as soon as I step into MMIA, so stay outta it. My country Nigeria, where we scream at eachoda to get attention, including at our customer care!....Obafunwa was wrong to av closed dat portal and I stand solidly by d students! Prof Hussain ll calmly open it back....now dat he was almost killed according to u, did he not open d portal?...even when hussain closes it, der was a back door for d wise, which was "Add and Delete corner"... Just stay out of it please, u wldnt accept thrash from anyone, don't accept dis too, ITS THRASH!

  6. I disagree wit u on this..it was stated in the Bible dat "d kingdom of God suffers violence and violence must take it by force"
If they don't fight for their rights, who will??..here in Nigeria there is no Body or organization dat fights for student;let's come off it,d VC is callous and insensitive.
It's amazing dat 40yrs ago, most of our VCs had free education and scholarship buh now dey increase tuition fees witout taking cognisance of its effects on student...Yes I believe in dialogue and "round table talk" buh wen there are NO tables and NO room for dialogue nko???
Egyptians, algerians and morrocans are all enjoying now cos dey chose to fight and stand for their rights.

  11. I'm not supporting thr action as the same thing happened in OOU last year because of increment in school fees, lots students weren't able to pay or register. The next line of action was to make a coffin with the VCS name on it n dead fowls everywhere, in the name of protesting; yet another barbaric attitude. If the school is too expensive for u, bounce out to another or step up ur hustle, even though all fingers aren't equal n I believe state schools should even be the cheapest, but it's the other way round. To think some of them would even collect the fees from home but would end up giving thr boyfriends or use it to buy phones n silly things. The govt themselves are bn unfair by increasing the fees without making adequate provision for these students. If u visit the libraries or hostels, they are all substandard and dirty looking, so what's the point?! Between I learnt state schools pay their lecturers themselves now, if the students don't pay thr fees, lecturers would go hungry. Those are some ppls parents u know.
Nevertheless, these students should learn to act right n not display the toutish attitude at every given opportunity.

What everyone failed to see is the sorry state of this Nation!
A student sent a mail in the heat of things to a blog not our Police force! VC doing as he likes as if na family matter..
Even the students that got to register could have just boycotted the exam halls and all these would have been avoided. No empathy, No solidarity!!

When you all have found yourselves in this kind of situation and you have been able to send a coherent mail filled with impeccable queens English, come back and complain here!!

  21. Whao! The same fate that befell us in January 2005 (University of Lagso). Following the sudden death of the SUG president shortly after a telephone conversation with the VC (Ibidapo Obe). Claims were that the man used 'Otumokpor' to sniff life outta the boy thru the fone based on some pending issues as d poor boy refused to relent.(God knows best) Under few hours, the whole place had turned to 'Arab-Isreali conflict zone'. The VC escaped with a boat through the Lagoon. Cars, VC Lodge etc were burnt. Na so the strike start oo. Thousands of Mopol naim com eject us out of campus. We didn't not only stay at home for 4months & 2weeks, we were asked to re-register ourselves to admit us back to the institution. All privileges withdrawn. No accomodation on campus for the seSsion. All forms of association banned. We come pay 10,000 each for damages. Imagine N10 thousand X 45 thousand students. Infact, I will always rmbr. Torh, Lasuites, una don run faster than una shadows oo. Make una go rest. I just hope the government will consider una quick. God bless. #SayNoToViolence

  28. To those of you cursing out the students, USE YOUR BRAIN AND SHUT UP!! MUST YOU COMMENT IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY THING TO SAY? HABA!!
This is what they should have resulted to years back! Some of us finished from LASU since 2008 and our result have not been released yet, is that fair?
Stella Please, Please, If you don't understand LASU educational system don't even put your mouth in this Please! Lecturers behaviour to students is a NO! NO! especially if you are a guy but all the girls they want to sleep with either you cover head or not. What sort of school is that?
I remember in 2006 when there was this particular strike, after some monthS we were called back to come write exams we were not even thaught or prepared for, most students were not present, those that were not present passed(if you can pay a certain amount of money) while those that were present failed! what will you call that?
See, Fashola needs to change all those lecturers because all they are there to do is to make money through the students and get students to buy them food, they are bunch of hungry MOFOS!.
Most of LASU students send themselves to school, it’s a pity they have to increased the school fees to 200k plus, so many students had to drop out because of the fee. I'm not saying they should not pay but that fee was too ridiculous!
Lagos State government should do something about the Educational system of that higher institute because from the cleaner @ the admin office to the gateman they are all VCs! No respect for students and my mama told me respect begot respect, you should treat people how you want to be treated not like cows!
I'm an alumni of Lagos State University and I'm proud to pass through the school no matter what any1 say, I have met people all over the world that are doing great and they finished from that same glorified secondary school as most of u stated, because the last time I checked you people are not God and you don't even have half of what can set up a secondary school not to talk of a higher institution that so many notable and respectable people passed thru, just like every other higher institutions in Nigeria so 1nc again use your Oblongata when writing as if every school no get hin own ups and downs... Mtsheew!

  29. well, to each his own. I am not in support of the violence aspect of the whole issue but i think the students got angry after begging the VC for so long and he did not budge. A day before the violent action, students staged a peaceful protest, pleading with the VC to reopen the portal only for him to say that the affected students are irrelevant and they have to carry the session over. Only about 792 registered out of so many students, i can imagine how they felt when they heard the insensitive comment from the so called VC. one again, i am not in support of the violent way they went about it, but people should try to understand the issues before making insensitive comments about the students and the school. I am also a proud alumni of LASU and i believe one should not be defined by the school he/she attends because it is only one part of your life.

  31. This is what happens when mediocrity, God fatherism and sentiments are placed over merit in the choice of a Vice-chancellor. I know Professor Amund ,came first in the interview and Obafunwa came third. But mediocrity prevailed and Obafunwa was chosen. So, Fashola, deal with your choice now. See where solid first hand experience handling Nigerian tertiary institution students comes in? Its not a tea party...
    Enjoy....
