| CHIBOK MOTHERS CRYING AT ABUJA PROTEST. |
Sahara Reporters reports that Mrs. Kema Chikwe, the National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today publicly questioned the story of the abduction of teenage school girls in Chibok, Borno State.
Speaking at a prayer session held for national security at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, Mrs. Chikwe said there were many unanswered questions concerning the kidnap.
Among them, according to her, are: "How did it happen? Who saw it happen? Who did not see it happen? Who is behind this?”
Towards obtaining answers, she demanded that the principal of the school should release the names and photographs of the abducted girls.
Mrs. Chikwe was tabling her controversial queries on the same day that many indigenes of Chibok, including anguished mothers seeking answers from the government, staged a public protest in Abuja to demand the immediate return of the girls, who were abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents over two weeks ago.
Converging at Eagle Square in the federal capital, the women, most of them members of the Kibaku Development Association in Chibok, marched to the National Assembly, where they submitted a grievance letter.
During her comments at the PDP Secretariat, Mrs. Chikwe to several of Nigeria’s security issues, including Boko Haram, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
"There is no newspaper that does not carry news of rape [sic] even babies,” she said. “There is hypocrisy about corruption among individual Nigerians.
"The last straw that broke the camel's back was the kidnap of Chibok schoolgirls."
She then went on to question whether the girls were actually abducted in the first place, suggesting a conspiracy scenario the PDP government has yet to speak about.
Mrs. Chikwe however described those behind the crimes as “lovers of darkness rather than light,” and called on God to touch their hearts.
Also speaking at the occasion, the chairperson, Senator Helen Esuene, stated that women are noted to stand for peace.
In comments that seemed to disagree with those of Mrs. Chikwe, she described women as the home builders, the ones who go through the pains of labour, and the ones who carry the children in their wombs.
"There is not much we can do than to pray because prayer is the answer to every problem".
As the National Women Leader, Mrs. Chikwe is a central figure in the mainstream of the party. It is unclear if her comments today represent the thinking of the party or its government, which seems frozen in time about the abductions in Chibok.

Stella she has a point. We are all just sensitive towards this matter as mothers or as humans with blood running tru our veins. While her query may seem aloof..at the same time it's pragmatic. The woman just can't make sense of anything anymore...same way most of us are confused and have analysed extensively. However I agree that a detailed identification list should be published. We all saw the list of those who died in the Nyanya bombing, and we say the listed names of those who also passed in the stampede recently. So if they can say matter of factly that 234 students have been abducted, then it shouldn't be difficult to release their names... at least, even if they may not have their photos. I agree with her absolutely on this one. Thought provoking.

How come I as a journalist wasn't allowed access to talk to any of the other students. There are many unanswered questions here. The so called parents that protested yesterday, did you see any of them with their girls photo? On a protest like this, if it was so true, the protesters or victims would have come out with pictures and when the press talks to any of them, they will each mention how many of their child/children were/was abducted. Do you realise that by putting their pics the kids will have to live with the scar and stigma for the rest of their life. It's sad but I think they might have raped some of them if not all. DeleteThank you jarey... how many children go yo school in Borno state? check ministry of education records, borno state has the lowest school attendance rate in the country. If the girls were kidnapped from Maiduguri I'll probably understand and accept the figures. But Chibok? Haba? That number is probably the total number of children in the whole school. We need to keep sentiments aside and ask pertinent questions. In a state with a state of emergency in place, why should children be left in boarding houses during holiday periods for any reason? Why haven't we held the principal and governor responsible? If the girls are up to the advertised number, shey it was WAEC they were supposed to be preparing for? The names and pictures will be with the WAEC board. Let's put human faces to these children. My heart goes out to the mothers who genuinely had their daughters kidnapped. Like someone asked, the parents don't have pictures of their children so they can be identified if they have been smuggled out of the country?

Armed robbery has become more overwhelming. There is no newspaper that does not carry news of rape, even of babies. There is hypocrisy about corruption among individual Nigerians. The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the kidnap of the Chibok schoolgirls. There are many questions to be asked and more to be answered. How did it happen? Who saw it happen? Who did not see it happen? Who is behind this? Those behind these crimes love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light; lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen, that his deeds have been wrought in God. Let God’s light shine in our great Country Nigeria and reveal the perpetrators of darkness.
Today, we will pray for miraculous revelations and solutions to this issue. We have convened this prayer session to bare our hearts open to God as Muslims and Christians. We shall make a way in our hearts for God to come in and settle, as we are contact points of our party members and all Nigerian Women.
In this programme, we will pray for the truth to be revealed concerning these missing girls. We shall worship and praise God with all our hearts, knowing that God is a spirit and they who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The truth about these problems must be told so that the truth will set us free. We need a peaceful and united Nigeria. We as women of Nigeria, as mothers will intensify our prayers for the end of Boko Haram, end of kidnapping, release of the Chibok girls, end of terrorism and insurgency in some States in Nigeria. Let the truth be told with God’s intervention. Our hearts are bleeding, not just broken. Please God send the Chibok girls home to their mothers and families. We plead with the school authorities to release their names and their pictures. Let God touch the hearts of those who know and have perpetrated this heinous action.
We pray for the victims of the Nyanya bomb blasts and other victims in other terrorist actions. May kidnapping stop in Nigeria. For the sake of mothers, set the Chibok girls free.
Later today, we shall go to the hospitals to visit the Nyanya bomb blast victims. May the spirit of the Lord come down.

As much as some people may not agree Kema's questions remain a food for thought. Why were no journalist allowed to interview any of the escapees? Why haven't the school principal release the names of the abducted or the escaped girls? Who were the villagers who advised the parents that embarked on a search mission to retreat.The whole drama gives room for doubts.

ReplyDeleteMy question is this: how does the reporter know that these girls being married off are the ones from Chibok?how were they identified? Why hasn't the principal come out to state categorically how it happened? Were the girls abducted by aliens? They surely didn't disappear. Where are the girls that reportedly escaped? Don't they have faces? At least they can be interviewed by the press to give their own side of the story.
Something is definitely fishy with this story.
