The Olugbo in Council uses this medium to refute reports by some online news portals that His Imperial Majesty, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo, was involved in the snatching of election materials in Ilaje community in Ondo State.
In a swift response to news been circulated,the Council said that the King did not snatch any ballot box and they see it as an attempt by the king's foes to smear and slander him.
According to Olugbo in Council, the King is a father to all and not a politician hence he couldn't have been involved in any such show of shame and reproach.The Council reiterates that their King will not be involved in anything rowdy, and will not take part in active politics.
"As far as Olugbo Council is concerned, the news not only beggars belief, but skirts moral boundaries. The report, which attempted to disparage and spread calumny on the respected monarch, is mischievous. Having said that, naturally, we wouldn't have responded to such claptrap but in as much as we, Olugbo in Council would like to preserve the honour of our Monarch and his Kingdom, we won't allow anyone to peddle unfounded stories on our King.
