ASUU To Begin One Week Warning Strike From November 16th...

The academic union of universities (ASUU) have declared a one week warning strike from the 16th of November to 22nd 2016. This was made known in a bulletin released after their NEC meeting November 12th.

Some of the issues being protested by ASUU includes funding for revitalization of public universities based on federal government and ASUU memorandum of understanding of 2009, non-release of subvension of state universities by their visitors and registration of NUPEMCO.

Other lingering issues are payment of earned academic allowance (EAA) and shortfalls in salaries leading to payment of fractions of staff salaries.

According to ASUU, the strike is total and comprehensive with no teaching, examination or any other routine activities of any kind.

    1. The fact that UNIZIK now goes on strike is heartbreaking.I spent 5 years in that school and not for one day did we experience anything like strike.I used to proudly tell people then that my school doesn't go on strike.Don't know why they joined ASUU.

  9. ASUU is synonymous to strike.
To think that some of the issues raised is not difficult for the fg to carry out. Its a pity that at the end of the day nothing meaningful might come out of it.
