Service Year Boulevard 40

Dont you have a Boulevard story to tell?

Thank you SDK for this platform and for your wonderful blog. You are a blessing to our generation.
My fellow BVs forgive my errors Cos my Deutsch is now affecting my English lol.

I was posted to Jigawa state for my youth service. My two elder sisters also served in Jigawa. And my Facebook friends that has the same surname with me also served in Jigawa. So I was not really surprised.

I got to the orientation camp in Dutse and was surprised how beautiful it was. They had constant electricity, the bathroom has both hot and cold water supply. The camp was new and we are the first set to use it.

I finished my registration the same day I came. And I wore my uniform and started snapping pictures immediately. I had so many friends in camp. Different friend for each purpose. I had a hostel friend, parade friend, doctor friend, army friend, eating friend and lecture friend.

The Jigawa sun was something else. It was so hot that all the bleaching queens had dark and painful patches on their face. Sometimes it will get so windy. When it wants to rain it's like the world is coming to an end.

I was made the platoon leader, and we won so many competitions like Drama, dance and essay writing and reading and the best cook. Every morning I look forward to parade because some guys cannot match to save their lives. It was really funny and our platoon commander always called them out.

I learned how to paint and draw in camp. As it's one of the career taught then. During posting, I was hoping to be posted to Dutse but to my surprise, I was posted to Kafin Hausa. I started working for my redeployment.

One day I went to Hadejia, it was getting late. I didn't know I was the only person going to Kafin Hausa. When the last person came down from the bus the driver refused to go further. He said I should come down that this is the last bus stop. I refused, he left with his conductor and I was alone in the bus. Then one Honda stop and asked them what the problem was. After explaining, he volunteer to take me to the village I was going. I called my friends in the corpers lodge and started speaking igbo describing the man and his car, 'incase of incasity' After the phone call the Man spoke igbo to me. I was surprised,
He said he is a police man and had served in the East for years.

3 months later, I was posted to Abia state. I was happy and I went to Kano and bought gold and Hollandaise wrappers for my Mum. On the morning I was to leave the village. Instead of going to Kano to enter luxury bus I decided to patronize the village local transport to Lagos. A 14 seater bus ended up carrying more than 30 abokis all of them coming to Lagos for the first time. Thank God they respect Women and I was given a seat besides the driver. When we got to Okene in Kogi, robbers tried to attack us. The driver drove the bus on reverse and ran. After a time he stopped and some people came down and was thanking Allah. Then we heard another gun shot.

This time the driver entered the bus and drove off without waiting for his passengers to enter. They all ran after the bus shouting in Hausa lol

After my registration in Abia state, I waited for my allawee to be paid. When it came I was paid 5 months allawee instead of 1 month. Luckily they calculated both the ones I already received in Jigawa. I was more than happy, I took it as compensation for the stress of going to the North.
