Teachers in Delta State Embark On Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salaries,

This is really sad that the Level of Education In Nigeria has dropped to this level...

Secretary Delta State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr. Joe‎ Iyalekhue told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba that a written order was issued to all teachers in the state to embark on an indefinite strike until the government met NUT demands.

“All teachers in the state primary and secondary schools are to proceed on an indefinite strike with effect from Thursday, March 9, until our demands are met.”

  1. This is why it baffles me when people talk about the fed govt taking "their oil money".
The people should start from their local govt chairmen and govs cos u hear the huge billions they get and yet nothing to show for it.
    This is really sad

    1. Tuscany you're right. The situation with the Delta State government is pathetic.

There's a rumor too that Okowa intends to cut Secondary school teacher's salary by 25%, isn't that crazy?

Dude is just there always crying of the debt left by Uduaghan, which isn't totally false tho.

This state is in a mess and needs help.

    2. God bless you. I was about to type this. They won't come and condemn their fellow brothers and sisters stealing from them o, but are quick to castigate others. The culprits are right under ur nose yet u choose to turn a blind eye. That's why development is poor over there, there is no accountability. They keep blaming everyone else apart from themselves.

Delta state. Major oil producer. Home to several oil majors. Huge internally generated revenue. Beneficiary of 13% derivative payment exclusive extra income monthly. Security vote budget of unknown but huge amount.

Yet, they owe teachers and goodness knows who else! Asaba is a mess, bad roads all over, bad light in most areas. And they have a governor who hasn't been away on medical leave and who recently received billions in Paris Club refund. Hmmmm.
