Labour Room Drama 180

The Drama started from the first Trimester....

 Stella of Life,

I am a huge fan, but I hardly comment. I have gotten queries a few time because am stuck with SDK. God bless you for this platform you are using to touch lives, Amen. I finally had the courage to send in my LRD.

Stells my first trimester was not funny at all, I could vomit for Africa, the smell of ugwu drove me crazy, the only thing that stayed in my tummy was my Malta Guinness nothing else stayed not even water.

I became very lean, friends and colleagues won’t stop asking what the problem was as most of them didn’t know I was preggy. I remembered a day I was in the office, I took a little water and I started vomiting, I got frustrated and started crying my boss took me to her office, she called one of my very close pal in the office and they started encouraging me that I will be fine, I kept managing myself, praying and looking forward to the end of first trimester. I remember telling DH to pray that we have twins as I won’t be doing this again anytime soon....

My 2nd trimester at about 16 weeks I woke up on a Saturday morning to use the loo and realized I was spotting blood, eeeh from where to where, I was scared to death; the first thing that came to my mind was that I had lost my pregnancy, I quickly put a call through to my gynae, who advised I come in for a checkup, they told me it was threatened miscarriage, I said God forbid I lose my baby. I was placed on 2 weeks bed rest. My aunt-in-law gave me a bible passage Malachi 3:11 became my slogan, I use that passage to sing and pray.

Did I mention that my eating habit during the 2nd trimester improved massively, party jollofrice and amala with correct gbegiri soup became my besty.

I begged DH to please come home with party rice anytime he went for a function which he did, I don’t know how he does it but he always delivers#lifeofamanwithapregnantwife#

My third trimester was the best of the trimesters, I was looking so radiant with my small tummy, very active, always rocking my heels at work. A lot of people didn’t even realize I was getting close to delivery, I remember my aunt-inlaw and sis-inlaw came visiting they looked at me and said I look 6 months pregnant when I was about 2 weeks to go, I just smiled.

On a daily basis I made sure I use two pedestrian bridge as a form of exercise, did I mention that I live in a two story building and I stay on the 2nd floor. There was a day I danced, Stella if you see the way I was digging it, my kid sis was recording(because my baby must see it when she’s grown),sometimes I wonder where I got my energy from.

Fast forward to my delivery story,on the 14th of December I went for my antenatal,I was 39weeks gone,my gynae said if I don’t deliver before Monday 19th(my EDD) that they will have to induce me, deep within me I don’t want to be induced because I have heard stories that touch the heart but I said okay and left.

On my way home I bought roasted plantain and groundnut,as I was going I perceived egusi soup from a canteen, I stopped over and bought amala with the egusi. On getting home I showered and balanced with my amala,an hour after I drank garri, was getting ready to eat my roasted plantain, when my sister came to ask if all is well with me because I was eating like glutton, three different meals within 2hours, if you see the way I rolled eyes for her….eeeeh which one be your own now*smh*, I ignored and just continued with my plantain jeje.

At about 3am in the morning I had little cramp but I was managing the pain, I went to the restroom when I got back to the room DH screamed your water has broken and am like, water where?

He said he saw water on my leg,I laughed and went back to bed, I still didn’t tell him about the pain but he could sense it that I was uncomfortable. I tried to sleep back but the pain kept coming, my phone battery was running low, so I quickly downloaded contraction timer to see if it was contraction at that point I felt something drop in my panties I checked low and behold it was the *SHOW* that was how I realized I was in labour o.

I woke DH up, told him I was in labour he stood up immediately told me to put on my cloth so we can start going to the hospital, I looked at the time it was 3:45am, I told him I will be back, I went into the bathroom to have my bath, that was how my DH started vexing for me o, in his words*you are in labour and you still want to shower, who does that, who is looking at you*.

He went to my sisters room woke her up and both of them started putting our box together, I ensured I delayed them till about 5am doing nothing.

We got to the hospital before 6am, I told the nurse I was in labour, she told me to please sit while she puts a call through to the doctor on shift that he is attending to another patient in labour, while she was on the phone with the doctor we could hear the woman screaming. The doctor came down took me to the observation room, he asked me few questions and told me to lay on the bed so he could check me, I won’t lie it was a bit painful but I could manage the pain,he asked how many kids I have and I told him am a FTM, he was wowed and told me I was 4cm dilated, so I was wheeled to the labour room to join my partner in labour.

Stella the woman’s screaming no be here o, I was hearing words like doctor poo poo, shit is coming, God please….doctor give me injection etc I didn’t know when I started laughing at the woman, when my own pain self dey my body.

All the while DH and my kid sis where outside the labour room so they could hear the woman screaming. DH buzzed me he asked if he could come inside because he was getting scared as he is only hearing the other woman’s voice. I told the doctor and they allowed him in. Anytime the pain comes I just grab his pocket while he help massage my back, till the pain fades. At a point DH said he kept wondering if I will still get to the screaming stage but as a strong woman that I am I didn’t scream at all, I guess I have strong threshold for pain, I just pray each time the pain comes.

The doctor and nurses kept coming to check me and they said I was doing very well and they started calling me *Our Super Woman*. Finally I started feeling the urge to push, so I told DH to call the Dr, he begged me to please hang on that the other woman is also fully dilated too, eventually the Dr came and I was asked to push, I tried the 1st and 2nd time but my baby didn’t show face,I noticed the Dr picked up something ehn scissors for where,I said please don’t cut me, he said if I don’t push out my baby after the 3rd count he will cut me, that was how I used all my energy o and my baby popped out at 8:10am,looking so much like her dad*rolling eyes*.

To my surprise my baby weighed 3.5kg as small and petite as I am.

Let me mention here that I did a lot of reading while I was pregnant, I subscribed to different pregnancy websites that were sending me daily/weekly updates on what to expect, also the book Supernatural Child Birth helped a lot and of course SDK LRD also played a part. I give God all the glory and I keep saying thanks to DH for witnessing me birth our Sunshine. Here is a picture of my princess for your eyes only, she will be 6 months in 2 weeks.

To all the pregnant mum and the TTC, may the Almighty God grant your heart desires IJN.

*Wow,interesting story!..The Amala part caught my attention and watered my mouth I wont lie..hehehehehehehe

  4. Thank God for you madam, I don't even know maybe it's actually low or high threshold for pains, I guess it's body differences, because my mum had all her kids at home, she fears injection so much, she won't register for anti natal or take drugs, only God helps her. I pray for such supernatural birth for myself too
