    1. The money was given to the recepient by UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA MEDICAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION. How much does a student association have?

      It's not the school.

    2. Yeah. I just heard a different story.

      From my friend's page.

Now I understand the anger of Nigerians and I don't want to sound all defensive but sometimes, Nigerians can be too quick to throw shades.

First, Chidinma Ikekpeazu was given the 10k as the best graduating student in Medicine and Surgery 2017 class, not as the best graduating student in UNN.

It was UNMSA(University of Nigeria Medical Students' Association) that gave her the 10k, not GTB. GTB was just the association's account, and the picture was an 'enlarged' size of their cheque.

I know Nigeria misplace priorities shaa, but not in this case. The 10k was from the CONTRIBUTIONS of students. Their widow's mite, which by the way is a plus to the association. It was simply a way of recognizing excellence.

      Congratulations Chidinma
      Nice idea Melchizedek

      End of copy and paste.

    1. You can donate to encourage her. If the Medical Association does not have, then we the citizens with our church mind can locate the student and congratulate/celebrate he or she.

  5. What a shame. I gradated from this school and sometime in the seventies and eighties, people like Prof. Aghaji, as best graduating students got scholarships for postgraduate studies in developed countries. Now they have messed up everything. The termites have eaten up all the fabrics.
    Shame
    shame
    shame on all
Politrictians and political profiteers in academics that have so messed up the youths of this geographical expression.

    3. There are certain errors that are basically typos; this anonymous merely missed a "U" in "graduated". Consider the comment as intelligent or not.

    1. A shame because GTB is mandated under which law to give best graduating students money? Shebi na their money, she can reject it if she wants

  8. So so wrong.
    Just wicked.
This just kill the morale of students who are putting effort s to study.

    1. If an institution giving away N10,000 out of freewill kills morale, I wonder what the duties of the person(s) who sent you to school is. People who are motivated by money are highly disloyal people

  9. Hmm., What a shame, I have to take a look very to be sure of the amount

  10. You guys should read the inscription on the banner before commenting.

The 10k is from the school branch of Medical Student's Association not from UNN.

  16. There are systems in place to help them further their education should they choose to. Isn't that reward enough?

If you want money too, go use that super brain of yours and the degree to make it.

  18. Just shows the value the country places on learning. Meanwhile people are getting millions for dancing or fornication on prime time television!

  19. Is there any other incentives or just the 10k? If no then that's an insult.

  20. I graduated from this university two years ago, apart from the money given, best graduating students have Automatic employment should they choose to stay, and also further studies is sponsored by the school to affiliated universities all over the world. That amount up there is from GTB and not UNN, I remember during the award night, Godwin Elumelu foundation gave 250k to the best graduating student.

    1. God bless you. UNN awards scholarship to the best graduating student every year. That I'm sure of.

    2. You sef read well na.

The money is from the student medical association and not from GTB or UNN. The association only used GTB cheque leaflet to create a dummy cheque.

  21. @stella she got the 10k from university of Nigeria MEDICAL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION... Gathered that she got other awards from various angles which amounted close to 250k.

Its the medical students that gave her 10k and being that they are not salary earners I can't say they fared poorly too..

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hahaha. It tells you much about 'the value of education' in Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 10k for what? Shame on them

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wish she can relocate to Yankee, sit for those their exams, get a housemanship for 4 years, then she is done. She will bag grants, scholarship's here and there. Thereafter make and awesome am out of money as a practicing pyhsician. Medical Docs are the winning number in the US, they are the most financially comfortable lot.

  25. Why do we find the need to drag or condemn without validation? The money was not given to Her by the school. The Assocation of medical students which comprises of other students, her juniors contributed money to support her.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's UNMSA's award and not UNN award. Please people should get their facts right.

    ReplyDelete
  27. People just like to carry some matters on their head without having the full info. Thats my school. I was there yesterday at unth. Her name is ikekpazu chidinma. The 10k is just from GTB. Innoson gave her 500k. Plus other organisations. She even got sponsorship for postgraduate studies abroad. Abeg make una chill

  28. Na just 10k them dey use over sized tapolin print. Congratulations to her

    ReplyDelete
  29. If we read the banner very well,we will understand that the money given to her wasn't from GTB or UNN. Rather it was from the Medical Students Association. The GTB on the banner only shows that that is where the association banks,it was more like a cheque.
