For example, when investors believe that a share price will drop, they start selling off their shares which will lead to excess supply and ultimately causing the share price to drop. Whether the price would have dropped we do not know, but due to investors belief and actions, the share price dropped.
Another example, is when we believe that the price of a commodity will rise and then we begin to buy and hoard. Due to excess demand caused by panic, the price of that commodity will rise. Also, an employer who expects the employees to be disloyal, will likely treat them in a way that will elicit the very response he or she expects
When we read blogs comments/advice, listen to sermons on relationships, receive advice from people, listen to people experiences etc., we most times form opinions about relationships and marriage… I like to call these opinions baggage because most times it is negative and even when it is positive it does not consider the peculiarity of your spouse…it is based on the adviser’s experiences.
Examples of some notions many people enter into a marriage with are: women are gold diggers, hide your money from your wife. Men are cheats, so don’t kill yourself because of a man. Your husband might marry another woman in the future so create a back-up fund etc.
Your wife might not be a gold digger, but because of your beliefs you begin to hide your resources, she finds out some, thinks you are selfish and begins to lie to get money from you…your prophecy has been fulfilled due to your actions.
Your husband might be a man with strong morals, but because of your beliefs that men are cheats you don’t bother to go the extra mile for him and he feels neglected and find comfort with another woman…your prophecy has been fulfilled due to your actions.
I believe that many marital problems are due to self-fulfilling prophecies and that people should enter relationships/marriages with a pure/neutral mind because carrying baggage into a marriage will make you act in a way that will cause those “prophecies” to be fulfilled.
I want us to discuss this issue. What are some of the self-fulfilling prophecies people enter marriages with, at what point should we learn from people’s lips or from our own slips when it comes to marital issues.

ReplyDeleteAkudo I can relate. Though I never met my MIL alive but hubby's aunties have been so wonderful. Even his grandma until her death never joked with me. As old as she was she used to cook one very sweet soup for me, will cook and dish it into a big bowel and send it to me. Bless her soul.
DeleteMy sister's MIL is a definition of evil.
Grabs popcorn. Ready to read comments
ReplyDeletePoster you're right to a large extent. On the other hand sometimes people go into relationships with the purest of motives, no preconceived notions etc, they do their best to make the relationship work, and the doomsday prophecies still come to pass.
ReplyDeleteIn such cases I would say that some relationships/associations are just not meant to be.
Talking about "prophecies" in marriages. NObody should prophesy to anybody about whom to marry etc. Jesus says that his sheep hear his voice and they follow him. The people of God are led by him. No one is going to help one live with ones spouse. If you allow such they all disperse after the deed is done and someone gets hurt, dumped, pained, killed . . . then the same folks will come to bury what they helped to kill.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to cheating, my dear expect the unexpected, it's only when u live in denial that you would feel like dying when u eventually find out. Cheating no need prophecy.
ReplyDeleteThank u 4 dis comment... som1 wud carry clean mind enter marriage only 4 u to start seeing leading evidence all around..u 😒😒if u lik dont snoop...keep loving in denial okk!!!
Deletehnmmmm
DeleteExactly wat Stella is saying. People like u have already made up their mind to be cheated on and that how it will most likely unfold for u. May God help u.
Delete@ sherikoko how can som1 walk into a marriage with such mind set... dat means d person was never into d union 4 rm d onset.. am tukin abt pepo who com in with free minds n den find them selves engulfed in all d drama...
DeleteYou attract more and more of what you think about. Women who think all men are cheats, always attract cheating men and they end up becoming cheats as well. Men who think women are all about money, end up marrying lazy women who adds no value but turn the man into an ATM. The Law of Attraction is one of the fundamental Laws of life. Your subconscious mind works very hard to attract everything you think about. Change your thinking, your ways will change and your life will change.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to prophecy in marriage, I strongly believe in it. Let me emphasize that -I STRONGLY BELIEVE IN IT
ReplyDeleteFor a fact, all I prophesied for my marriage long before I dreamt of ever getting married, all has come to pass...from the exact number of kids I want and the gender I wish them to be, to the type of man my husband should be, to the level of comfort I want plus so much more...
Here I am now, giving myself a slap for underestimating the power of my pronouncement. I for don pronounce plenty join.😁I no quick know how strong the power of my pronouncement be
Sometimes I look at myself and ask God, who am I that YOU are so mindful of me?
Let me comman be going...i need to get to a quiet corner to make more pronouncement...for some other things..😉😁🤗
You are so right the day I got married I told myself I will get a divorce, marriage didn't last a year
DeleteLet the comments roll in...
ReplyDeleteHave some truth in it. But sometimes, things just happen no matter how much time and effort you put into it.
ReplyDeleteOK oooo
ReplyDeleteMy mym told me not to marry him, i did and 10yrs after, wush i listened to here...Due to some reason i cant work at the moment we are in a foreign land, anytime i refuse to give him blow job, no weekly allowance for me that weekly... B
ReplyDeleteNa wa O!!!! Just because of blow job he won't give you allowance??? My dear, you are a sex slave!! May God see u through.
DeleteWhat's wrong in giving ur man blow job, thats no big deal. Hian
DeleteAmacastel, there is no big deal giving your hubby a blow job but there are days you just don't feel like it. Must you oblige every time. But to deny her allowance because she refuses oral sex is uncalled for.
DeleteFinancial abuse at its peak. Sad
DeleteWe are a product of what we choose to believe.. if for e.g you believe your neighbour is insane, even when he or she sits quietly, you will choose to believe thats what she is been controlled to do at that moment
ReplyDeleteAnonymous really no blow job no allowance 😳 you are in for it sex slave 😩
