Nigeria Pulls Out Of 90 World Organisations To Cut Cost

Nigeria has resolved to withdraw from 90 out of the 310 international organizations to which it has financial commitments.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adeosun put Nigeria's annual commitment to all the international organizations at $70 million.
The minister said the country was currently owing all the organisations about $200 million.

She explained that the decision to withdraw from 90 of such organisations was aimed at cutting cost. She, however, did not name the organizations the nation was withdrawing from.

*They should have named them so that we can check if they are members..

  2. You really do expect her to name the whole 90 organizations as she was talking? You are kidding me. That should be a special note from the Ministry, not a press release like this. And because you can check the name now doesn't mean they are in or not. It takes process for a country to be removed from an organisation. It is bureaucracy.

  5. That's commendable. Infact we should consider pulling out from more. My only qualm with the administration is that all the noise about pulling, loot recovery, growing reserve etcetera is not translating into a better life for Nigerians.

  6. If they want to cut costs they should start with the salaries of those at the national assembly.
