Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha has unveiled the statue built in honour of visiting Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
While appreciating the gesture of the state governor, the Liberian president said she has never received such an honour.
According to her, she has a statue in her alma mater, Harvard University, but the size of the statue cannot be compared to the one built by the Rochas Okorocha administration.
Shortly after unveiling the statue of the Liberian President, Rochas Okorocha was asked by a journalist why he is building statues and he replied:
“To immortalize people so our children yet unborn can read a piece of them. History is dying in Africa. We must keep history alive. In the next 100 years to come, most of us will not be here but this will stand for children to read stories and mold their character. If leaders are not mortalized, there will not be history for children yet unborn’.
*A museum would have been better....what if the statues falls and the next gov is not interested in erecting it again?This is a money wasting project!!!
Free textbooks, dumb governor, would do a whole lot and it cheaper for... Please ask a student who these people are today, listen to the answer, and then you will realize your sthpidity

ReplyDeleteThe most senseless and wicked governor Imo State has ever had. He is busy erecting statues while workers and pensioners are being issued bounced cheques. Rochas should desist from this madness.

ReplyDeleteI must confess, this is the biggest fool we have in government after Rotimi Amaechi,is this the infrastructure he is supposed to be building or the jobs he is meant to create for his people,How many African countries even have photographs of our leaders in their monumental buildings ? And he is now placing such imposing statues of them in public glare,what a shame when we elect clueless illiterates and low lifes into positions of authority what do you expect? This man is even a dictator that doesn't listen to the people he is meant to be be governing or his commissioners or special advisers.He and his generation will be stoned and will forever live a shame ......God help Nigeria
