A Chronicle Of Polygamous Brouhaha -6

Why do men value male child more than daughters? Most polygamists will always give excuses that they want male children or their wives could not conceive again.

A lot of men have plunged into polygamy, even the educated and the intelligent ones. This is a story of a young polygamist.

Anthony is a handsome dude, well educated, rich, dark, tall and handsome. Every woman dream but a chronic womanizer although some ladies flaunt themselves on him because of his looks. After his university education, he decided to venture into business and with the help of his wealthy sister, millions was given to him to start off.

He had a lot of girls falling over to get his attention. Most of them were competing with each other to gain his attention. There must be a lady in his place either cooking or doing one house chores or the other. Eventually, he got married to Aramide from the south west.

Aramide later took in but lost the pregnancy.

In the year 2013, she became pregnant again after several miscarriages and surviving fatal accident that almost took her life which left her with a limping right leg till date. She went for her ante-natal and was waiting for the nurse to call her in to see the doctor. She heard her name being called, Mrs. Anthony. As she got up, she noticed another lady also got up and was heading towards the same direction to the doctor’s office. She was stunned and asked one of the nurses and they told her it might be coincidence that both of them bear the same surname.

She related the story to her husband – Anthony who waved it off as its normal thing to see two people bearing the same surnames. Aramide, delivered her baby girl- Sharon on the 10th September, 2013. Exactly, two weeks later, the same woman she saw in the hospital delivered a baby boy that was a replica of Anthony.

The woman took the child to Anthony sister’s place to show her the baby, confirming that the baby belongs to Anthony.

Anthony secretly paid the bride price on the woman in order to claim the baby boy because she told him he can never have access to that child without paying her dowry. He was just in his mid-thirties and already a polygamist. He rented apartment for her and their son. This did not gone down well with Lizzy, she was traumatized and broken.

Knowing fully well that where the husband comes from they value male children more than females. In fact, most inheritance goes to the males folks. The beautiful mansion the husband built in the village now automatically belongs to the Anthony junior and leaving her daughter out. She became more frustrated when she could not bear more children afterwards. Could it be that the woman was behind her trauma? - The accident and several accidents just to have her home. She was sad that the husband did not deem it fit to let her know of his plans but lied to her when she asked him about the hospital incident.

The woman later gave birth to set of twins- boys, later a girl/boy and Anthony was over joyed. The family of Anthony accepted Rose with open hands especially the fact she came from their side and have given their son plenty children, Aramide was pushed out of her matrimonial home- an orphan.

Please, always make sure you study the guy you are about to get married to and consider if his flaws are things you can live with because life is very deep.

  5. This is serious. Our Christian brethren that wants to practice polygamy should take lectures from the northern men. They treat their wives well and hardy discriminate against the gender of their children

Poster am waiting for the concluding part.

  6. Do we want to know the truth?
The Yoruba men are not in control of their homes, their mothers and other family members are. I am yet to see an exception to this rule, even in this noble blog. I will celebrate an exception.

  7. Such is life, a friend lost her mother yesterday, the dad married her despite having 3boys , two girls from d first wife, d first is still alive, now they are burying d second. Some women have deal breakers, u can't waltz into their marriage easily, u have to be strong diabolically cos if u are a Christian, you won't join as number two.

  9. This your post will generate hate if it you don't even it up. I am the last and only boy of my family of 4. I heard stories of how family was disturbing my mom because of male children but my dad didn't really care. My mom keeps saying when she gave birth to my immediate sister, my dad said 'obinrin lo tun bi'.

This things and many more made my sisters hate me. They would sit me down and start telling me stories of how one only boy grew up and turned to an armed robber blah blah. The more they say this, they more I even pity my dad and I think I like him more than my mom sef. I find it hard to love anyone and I don't love anyone too because of all of this.

I have left home since like 17 and after so many wahala with my parents including arresting me to bring me back home and all what, I travelled out. Sometimes I think maybe they are right about male children born in such circumstance bringing pain, sometimes I think maybe they drove me to this. I sometimes don't even pick my sisters and mom's phone cus I feel all she has to say is 'I suffered for you'. Sometimes I want to be a child that will be obedient and they can call and all but growing up cooked me too hard and it's because of all the hate that was built up when they were searching for a male child.

For a long time sef, I couldn't talk to women. I was always having this inferiority complex. It wasn't even talk about relationship. Just normal conversations till I started reading some books and now that I know just want they want to hear, I kind of abuse it because it makes me feel powerful over 99% of women I meet. This is affecting many men out there. They weren't the one asking to be born as the only boy/boys.

  10. only ignorant men think like that....if only they know they are the ones determining the sex of the child then they would know they are the ones to be blamed not the woman.

  11. Sometimes I wonder if it is better to have a useless make child that would disgrace you in future than to have a female child that would be your saviour.

  13. So sad. I am always cautious about such men. Once I notice that you have that mentality, I give you space. As if they are not all children.
