Actress Mercy Aigbe Finally Talks About Her Birthday Dress Brouhaha + Insinuates She Might Sue Designer Rikatobyme.

Nollywood actress and fashion entrepreneur Mercy Aigbe-Gentry has opened up on the recent red birthday dress saga involving her, a designer –Rikaotobyme –and a bride @rettypetty on Instagram.

She was a guest on TVC‘s Entertainment Splash on Tuesday.

Mercy had worn a red dress made by the designer for her 40th birthday photoshoot, a dress a bride later came out to say was hers.

Following an apology by the designer and a statement by Mercy Aigbe’s stylist
StyledBySeun absolving her of any fault, the actress has opened up on the case, saying that it was all the designer’s fault.

Speaking on the issue, Mercy Aigbe sympathised with the bride and said it's really sad and painful, adding that no bride should go through what she went through. She added that her lawyers are on the case, saying: The designer put me in a very embarrassing situation and my lawyers are on it. It's very very annoying, with the way people came at me, like okay "Mercy must have bribed the designer".

I am so disappointed in her because she did not handle the situation professionally. It is all her fault and she needs to come out and clear the air and look for a way to compensate the bride and she also has to compensate me because I am her client.

She lamented fact that people began criticising her without hearing from her. She added that she hasn't taken down the pictures and that her lawyers are on it.

*Good she cleared the air but if she had spoken up early, she might have saved herself  the way she was badly battered with accusations.
Sue the designer? #yimu

    1. All of you saying she wore what's not hers are so clueless!!!
It was for a photoshoot.. So the stylist had to hire or buy the costumes she needed.. In this case, the guy hired it and Rikaotobyme gave them a brides dress thinking they would return it before she ships it, but unfortunately it wasn't returned on time... Rikaotobyme is fond of renting out bride's dresses.. The dress one blogger @blacksatino used for her birthday photoshoot also belongs to another bride.. Just that black satinos photos didn't go viral so the bride was ignorant about this.. Go to black satinos page and Rikaotobyme page and see.. Same dress... Satinos even tagged Rikaotobyme as the designer

    5. I support that she sues the designer we don't sue people in this country and that is why they get away doing whatever they like.

As for people calling mercy a igbese a liar my question is why would she purposely want to wear a dress that could come with a backlash on her birthday.

So pls let's think this thing through properly before we say she's lying or just trying to score cheap points.

      LEP😛

    6. Uncle gift I also read from one of the posts the designers made that the material was exactly like mercy 's so if she bought the material herself she should have known it wasn't hers well nah them sabi but now the case is calm she wants to bring it up i wish her safe journey

    7. I doubt that she's being 100% truthful. Why should the designer compensate you "because you are her client"? I thought you had no dealings with her? And it was your stylist you blamed?

    2. I wish Stella will post Mercy's ig post on this. She really cleared the air there.
She said she has never hired the designer for any work. Rather she hired a stylist for her birthday shoot which is very normal. It is the job of the stylist to go hunt for clothes for his or her client from designers for rent. So the yeye designer rented out the bride's dress to the stylist hoping that the dress will be returned before she ships it out.
This means that all those talk by rika abt delivery mixup, or merxy having same material as the bride blabla were all lies. I also read she has done this to alot of brides before (renting their clothes out b4 their wedding)...some of the brides found out later while some are still in the dark till date but what they usually had in common was that they all received torn and dirty bridal dress from her showing it was used by others

  7. If Mercy had any self respect as a woman she would have pulled down that pic from her instagram page. As a sign of respect for the bride;it is o so painful to see a material you sourced and bought yourself on your biggest day on a yeyebrity with no care in the world. But I guess mercy is more concerned about slaying than someone else feelings.
It isn't mercys fault but there will be no harm if she apologised to the bride also.
Mercy you need to cleanse yourself from the spirit of greed. Your thirst for clothes. If only you know this is a genuine problem. You owe, you pass of fakes as designer. I hope you do realise you have a problem one day and find a solution to it. Clothes are just covering on a human body, you shouldn't loose your dignity over it.

    1. Let's look at it from another angle.
Following all the backlash and accusations heated upon her at the time, if she had pulled down the pic, it would have been translated that she is so guilty of all accusations.

She has her own blame in all of these but 95% of the blame goes to Rika. If she was disciplined, Mercy wouldn't have seen that dress not to talk of wearing it.

Sue who? Shes not serious. The bride in qusetion hasn't even mentioned sueing anyone and here she is ;the main culprit talking nonsense after conniving with the designer to rub the bride of her happiness. Mtchewww

    1. How did she steal the dress? Una dey read sef?? Most celebrities have stylist who source for clothes for them. They bring different clothes and the celebrity picks the ones he or she likes. Dont you see where they write styled by so so and so? Abi you think styling na just to combine clothes? The liar here is the designer, she gave mercys stylist an already made dress,
Probably without mentioning that the dress was for someone else. I mean, Go to tiannah styling studio, tojufoyeh studio and the likes, they always have already made dresses of different sizes for customers. if you see a dress you like and the dress doesnt fit, they'll help you adjust it! mercy saw the dresses that the stylist brought and picked the one's she freaking liked! She wore not one dress but 4 dresses from different designers for the photoshoot. Can't you see that she tagged the designers on all her birthday clothes? The designer lied
about mercy bringing the same material and wanted the same style. That excuse was ridiculous! What are the odds??? there was never a material, the designer gave mercys stylist the brides dress and mercy wore it because she didn't know. You guys just hate for no goddamn reason. I don't know mercy personally and i don't really care for her but mercys explanation is logical. If you want to argue, biko argue with your ancestors.

    2. African barbie, God bless you. Most celebrities don't buy clothes, they rent for a fee. Why should they buy it when they can't use it more than once. Mercy definitely didn't source for the cloths herself, her stylist did. The blame is all on the designer for renting out a bride's cloth to the stylist and the stylist is to blame too for not returning the cloth on time.
