    3. I almost lost my sister some months back too. Husband gave her HIV without informing her, meanwhile he is taking his drugs and looking fresh, meantime my sister was gradually dying until she came to Lagos and i took her for a test. Today, i see my sister and i thank God that she came to Lagos and that she is alive. i have not spoken to her husband ever since then. wicked soul.

In a nutshell its not a man or woman thing. its end time thingz with end time behaviours.

  7. This is so true. Had an uncle who this same thing happened to, the woman was taking her ARD without telling her husband. He is dead now, practically dried up.

  9. I write this in memory of Maman Yashim. I didn't know her first name. But she was a neighbour who always came to our house at odd hours. What I didn't know was she had an issue. She was always falling sick. And because my mum was a practicing Nurse she will come with complaints.
Mummy asked her to do a HIV test. She did and tested positive. Wow! How did she get it?

Anyway, she got medicines and started taking. It was along the line she discovered that her husband a police officer was positive and had been taking the medication. That was a blow. So he knew and didn't warn her.

Then he decided to divorce her to marry someone else, and took her to Court. She came to my mum for advice. My mum told her to tell the court everything.

She told the court and the court refused to give him the divorce. Needless to say he died shortly after that.
By the time she discovered she had HIV, it was already full blown. I think she survived for a year or two and passed away. Of courses it was God's grace that kept her all the years she survived it to probably prepare her boys. She died and left 3 boys as orphans. Because of her husband's selfishness.

Many spouses are being infected by the spouses and this is sad. Amongst the Hausa/Fulani, it is mostly the men who are infecting their wives. There are statistics to show. Well its vice versa and it is wrong.

I am not condoning what the Lady has done. Am only saying this has been an on going issue.

  10. I don't see any different thing she did from what men does!

They know they are HIV positive they won't tell their wives, they take their drugs while the wife doesn't know what's happening.

Chei it was here the other day I said a wife by mistake(which I believe God wants her to see it that day) saw her husband's HIV result and the anti-retroviral drugs he's been taking in his wardrobe.

Nothing new please, it's what most men do their wives.

  12. That's how a cousin died last month because her husband (now late too) was positive and didn't tell her till he died for her to get medication.

The hubby died four years ago leaving her and five kids behind(4boys and a girl) she discovered she was positive(full blown AIDS) just last year, but by then it was already too late.

It was when she died that her mum voiced out the entire details of how thinks got difficult for her after her hubby died and how she got know her status last year was placed on medication bt coukdnt go to get another dose cos she was too ashamed of the stigma and couldn't afford transportation from their village to the health center to get her drugs. (N600 transport fare fa)

I was so devastated and couldn't forgive myself till date for not being aware of her situation to even be able to send some money across for her to transport and get her medication. If only I knew....

RIP Aladi, forgive me I wasnt aware of how difficult things got for you after your husband's demise.

If only you cried out... and If only I probed further to know how "fine" you were with your kids each time u we spoke on the phone.

  17. i work with an NGO that implements HIV programme..and have come to know that once someone who is positive takes his or her drugs regularly, the persons chances of transmitting is very slim and in events where the virus has been suppressed over time, the person cannot infect a partner or a child. so those people who got infected even when their spouse is on ARV may likely be infected from somewhere else and not their spouse.its only when the spouse is not taking drugs at all or is not following the presciption that he or she can infect sumone else.i have the virus and have been married for 8 years with 2 kids n my husband and kids still test negative.......learn to support someone living with the virus..it'll heklp people to disclose their status thereby saving everyone the stress..HIV is pot even as deadly as hepatitis or cancer
