Ohanaeze Says Nnamdi Kanu Surety Senator Abaribe Cannot Produce Him...

The Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reacted to the arrest of Abia Senator, Eyinnaya Abaribe by the Department of State Services, DSS.

Ohanaeze called for the immediate release of Abaribe because he had no capacity to produce the elusive leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

In a statement on Friday, President of Ohanaeze, John Nnia Nwodo said the circumstances at the time of the “disappearance” of Kanu were beyond the “contemplation of the law that a surety can guarantee the production of an accused person”.

“The army in the name of ‘Operation Python Dance’ invaded Nnamdi’s home and destabilised normalcy there,” the statement read.

“It is only the security agency that can disclose Nnamdi’s whereabouts. Senator Abaribe has no capacity, nor has any surety in the circumstances to know the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu. What happened in Umahia was an invasion, a war of a kind.

“Nnamdi may have been killed or captured in the imbroglio or even escaped into hiding.

“The onus lies on the security forces to disclose his whereabouts. The judiciary is beginning to tow the line of the executive by throwing the law overboard in matters that affect the south-east.

“We are all equal before the law. Senator Abaribe must be released forthwith,” he said.

Recall that in April 2017, an Abuja Federal Court had granted bail to Kanu after 18 months in detention.

Abaribe alongside Tochukwu Uchendu and Emmanuel Shallom Ben, stood as sureties for Kanu and signed a bond of N100m each.

    1. How are you sure he vanished and wasn't killed? Didn't you hear sounds of machine gun shots that the day the army took war meant for boko Haram to his home? Was he missing before that day or after that day? Tell me? They are the ones to provide him not this man, cos kanu obeyed court order and stayed in Nigeria, but your ruler of a man called President couldn't keep his own side of the deal. In a sane country he would have been arrested for genocide but no I forgot THIS IS NIGERIA where there are first class citizens.

    2. Anon but people too picture of Nnamdi in Ghana and shared after that. Let’s not be sentimental and blinded by the truth.
Abaribe knee what it meant to sign off the surety on behalf of Nnamdi. We all know what it means even being a bank guarantor for another account holder. Let us begin to obey the rule of law and take religious, tribal sentiments out and out country will be great.
What baffles me is the common man always wants to fight for wrong reasons on behalf of the rich and famous while this so called rich and mighty don’t care about the common man

    4. Buratai should produce him.
They invaded and shot people that were watching mere movies in his house. People that did not bomb any church or mosque.
BURATAI and Buhari Ajala should produce him.

    5. Anon 10:15, how are you sure it was him? Or you heard from the propaganda Nigerian govt? I blame him for letting pride get into his head and making the mistake of forming BSS. They just needed a reason to take him out and he gave them that. He was the only one who could hold the president to his neck, the only one the people listened to, he controlled the whole east-south and they were all scared of him including our east useless governors.
What he would have done was to start from the East and clear out all those useless and selfish rulers first cos the masses were on his side, encourage the masses to vote for people who will stand for our collective interest first, then move forward but pride came before his fall.

Since he left how many people has mentioned restructuring again? They were all deceived and planned together to take him out, today who dey cry? Many of them will be regretting their actions against him by now. Now Na morning e never reach afternoon yet talk of evening.
You all should get ready cos BUHARI will be there till 2040, suffer and killings never start.

    1. So that is why you and your useless president decided to disobey the law and invaded his home right? You and your partners are the ones who should provide him dead or alive. Because he was not hiding till the day you people went to his home and killed him and his family, so why turn around now to play innocent? Why didn't you obey the rule of law and wait till his case is finished? Was he appearing in court anytime his case was up? Useless Country, with a Useless and lawless president. Wait, 2019 will decide and if you, amagiri & co try any nonsense you will all get it got this time.

  4. Stella you don't seem to get it, the case is already at the court but the government is afraid, for they don't stand to win it since they are the ones who sent army over Nnamdi Kanu that got his disappearance till date. Wouldn't they have allow the court to judge the case of Nnamdi before sending army to his place?

Now they are making the same mistake again. Abaribe case is still in court but they have arrested him on the same issues. Abaribe has no case to answer about KANU whereabout for he wasn't the last person that saw Kanu before his disappearance rather the army were and by law they are responsible.

    1. One problem with this country is that we often repeat the pitfall of the past. There are so many unresolved issues in this country and that has being the many problems emanating today threatening the very foundation of the unity of this country.

    2. Mr Teejay standing surety has nothing to do with whether or not you were the last person to see the accused before his disappearance. It is that you have undertaken under the law to provide the person whenever the person disappears that's why its a very tricky job to undertake and you only take when you are 100% sure of the person

    3. 8:52 what if I stand surety for a man and it happens that prior to the court case he was killed by the police or army what then becomes the case of it?

What if Kanu disappearance has to do with the army? What if he was killed by the army? The law states that the last person in a crime scene is assumed to be guilty allegedly. I wish I can sight and quote that chapter for you in the constitution this minute but will search and come back to give you. The presidency are in for this I must tell you. They are dealing with people more intelligent and sophisticated in knowledge more than them.

    4. If you have time go and read about the "Doctrine of last seen" in the Nigeria constitution and know that the army has an answer to give about Kanu disappearance.

Before that fateful day, KANU have always being around and made himself available to the public to an extent of touring different States. Not until the army unleashed their Python dance that claimed several lives at Kanu residence.

What will you say about this knowing his court case was coming up soon but army went there. Our problem in this country is that we aren't truthful about incidence and the reason we need to be recolonized for a second time.

    6. First of all, you are speaking from a jurisprudential fallacy. Using death before a court case is a clear notus declaarious and cannot affect a surety so keep quiet about that because you don’t know anything about how jurisprudence works. If one asks you to prove that the Army was the last to see him you will fail to produce any proof. Secondly, shortly after Kanu’s disappearance, HIS BROTHER said they wouldn’t disclose his location for security reasons. Two weeks later, they started playing politics with his disappearance claiming that it was the military that took him away. Contradiction? Or just a means of drawing sentiment? Why is his family not saying anything about him anymore? What about his father who was the same place that Kanu was when the military came in? Why is he not missing? You talk about military attacking without pointing out that the foolish boys surrounding their supreme leader and mini god that they started worshipping were the ones throwing stones at mad Nigerian soldiers with guns and ammunition. Wanting to use cutlasses and machetes to fight people with superior knowledge of combat and attack. You also didn’t talk about Kanu and his stupid boys creating a state within a state and causing instability by attacking people who didn’t support their movement. That was peaceful to you right? You didn’t talk about how they formed their so-called police/soldier to fight the Nigerian state. Perhaps it is you alone that needs to be recolonized not us. And please, learn to use right grammar please. Your almighty Kanu failed. You guys celebrate a failed DJ to be your saviour. Abaribe will remain in custody until he does the needful. Ewu Kanu.

    7. What nonsense are you saying Mr Man? Can you even comprehend these comments? Do they make sense to you at all? Government afraid of losing the case with Kanu? On what ground? What are you even talking about? Who is making the same mistake again? Kanu or the government? Who lost at the end? Over 3 million people died because of a silly mistake. One small boy from no where is coming up with the same problem that made so many people lost their lives. Did he make able bodied young people lose their lives again for a cheap sentiment? Yes. Who is making mistake? The guy is in the UK now flirting with the ladies he is known to be flirting with as he was doing before he got divorced. The people who saw him as their messiah are now in their graves, wasted. Not heroes. No one remembers them. Lives wasted for the sake of one idiot boy, for a fruitless goal. It is amusing how you call these foolish touts fighting for a foolish goal intelligent and knowledgeable people. What do they know? Idle minded people who put their lives down for a failed man in the UK? It is because of this kind of nonsense notion that you typed above that made young people die foolishly. Please wake up. Better for you guys to face reality than play victims all the time. You are the cause of your problems so face them. Abaribe was foolish to stand surety for an idiot. So he should dance to the tune of the music he played. We are waiting for you to post the part of the constitution that you mentioned in your comment. Please post it.

  5. This case is really confusing and I think it's unfair on the senator considering the fact that at one point the army invaded his compound.

  6. I won't advise anybody to stand surety even for his own child unless he can be with the person 24 hrs a day not to talk of a stranger. Standing surety is a very dangerous job because plenty times I have seen ehn, the accused will disappear and they will come and carry the surety who can do nothing. Most times they will charge the surety to court sef so the surety becomes the accused. This senator cannot say he didn't know Nnamdi kanu will disappear. He stood surety to gain points from the Igbo folks and unfortunately it didn't work. He should forfeit the 100 million or provide nnamdi kanu or better still sef go to prison
