Senator Ademola Adeleke Emerges Osun State PDP Guber Candidate

Senator Ademola Adeleke has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State.


He garnered 1,569 votes in the primary of the party held in Osun State on Saturday. Adeleke defeated his closest rival, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi who scored 1,562 votes. More than 3,000 delegates of the party voted during the election.


Chairman of the election committee and Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, announced Adeleke as winner of the primary, adding that Adeleke would be the party’s flag bearer in the state’s governorship election coming up next month.

Seven governorship aspirants of the party had earlier announced their withdrawal from the primary. They are Mr Adejare Bello, former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Prof. Adeolu Durotoye, Jide Adeniji, Sen. Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, Mr Ayoade Adewopo, Mr Lere Oyewumi and Mr Felix Ogunwale. The aspirants said that they stepped down from the race due to appeal from the party’s leadership and also to ensure cohesion within the party.

      You are also one of the problem in this country. Ask yourself some basic questions; why should I vote for him, what value is he going to add in Osun State, what has he done in his current cpapacity as a senator (not dancing)? It should be also for everyone and anyone who is contesting irrespective of the party.
      We can revamp this country if we bring to hold everyone accountable and stop playing with the future of our children.

    I don't have a problem with him emerging as osun state governor aspirant under PDP, we also know of his late brother contribution but how has he impacted his constituency, how has he impacted people's life and is he sound. If we really want a good governance and positive change in our society we should stop voting based on sentiment.

    A good choice? As if a governor's work is just to be dancing upandan. I've never heard him speak something of substance. and no I do not belong to any party. Don't even know the APC. WisWish Osun state all the luck they can get. SMH
