Google Honours Dr Ameyo Adadevoh With A Google Doodle On Her Birthday

World Most Popular Search Engine, Google is marking the birthday of Ebola hero, Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh with a Google Doodle.

Dr Adadevoh was born on October 27th, 1956.

Dr Adadevoh is credited with having prevented a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing the patient, Patrick Sawyer, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government.

She single-handedly stopped late Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American diplomat who brought the Ebola Virus into Nigeria, from escaping from the hospital and further spreading the disease.

On 4 August 2014, it was confirmed that she had tested positive for the virus and she passed away on 19th August 2014.

She was posthumously honoured by federal government for playing a key role in curbing the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

  1. Nice one goggle. Honour well deserved.
They should also honour nurse justina Ejelonu ,she also lost her life during the Ebola outbreak in first consultant hospital. She was the nurse that attended to Patrick Sawyer, who intentionally infected her by removing his iv cannula and splashing his blood all over her body. So painful that she only worked for one day after her graduation from Ebonyi state university. She met Patrick second day after her employment. She was pregnant and engaged to be married ending of that year. She miscarried, bled and lost too much. So she couldn't fight the deadly virus.
May their gentle souls continue to rest in peace.

  12. I honestly don’t get her heroism here...it it not her duty as a doctor? What kind of pressure did they give her? Haven’t watched the movie so I don’t know
