Minimum Wage - Labour Vs FG Vs Governors

The Nigerian Labour congress is asking for JUST N30,000 minimum wage but the Governors say they can only pay N26,500 and Government is on the side of labour....

The impending strike has been a long time coming YES/NO?

What is your say on this and how prepared are you for the days ahead?
They say you should all buy food for the house because no one knows how long the strike will last......

Do you think the government will be able to stop the strike at this rate?ASUU has already jumped in with one leg.
NUPENG promises to support......

  2. The NLC is holding the government in their scrotal sac. Elections are coming and they don't need all these drama.
finally, it's the ordinary citizens that suffer.

  3. This new minimum wage proposal may be counter productive.

Do we think of the aftermath of the increase???
Prices of goods and foodstuff will skyrocket.
Vulganizers are already charging N200 to pump tyre. Wait and see what will happen in the days to come if wages are increased.

What about those not having paid employment? What about the common man?

I think strike for provision of employment, good governance and accountability would have been better even though the present minimum wage is too poor.

    First thing first.

  4. Labour is definitely right this time and their demand is reasonable. Govt.at all levels should be more creative in generating legit revenues and not only to spend our commonwealth on frivolities. Cutting down wastages alone in our public sector would cover for the increment.

  5. The strikes is ill conceived, most state governments haven't been able to pay the 18k,so why ask for more. NLC should agitate for that rather than raising the bar.

    1. They are well able to pay but are deliberately owing. Two different things

  6. The strike is necessary because it is the only means that Labour leaders can make the government honor the agreement of the minimum wage committee. We all know that Nigeria is rich enough to afford that. But of course the ruling class will not want this because it will reduce the amount of money they are planning to loot. If a president Buhari really means we’ll for Nigerians like he claims this shouldn’t be difficult for him to agree to. The strike will hold except the Govt decides to honor it previous agreement. Solidarity Forever

  7. I am already on strike in my mind, common 30k Federal government say they cannot pay. Where do they get all the monies they steal, Labour made a huge mistake coming down to 30k with this Buharified times, they should have said 50k or nothing. But i think they might just accept and call off the strike as the remainder to 30k no reach 5k by midnight if not by the end of today na shut down i dey. Food Aboki must sell for us in Abuja.

  10. Ikoyi is already chaotic. Traffic everywhere. Panic fuel buying. I don’t even understand why this stupid government cannot pay the minimum wage of 30k. Is it so much to ask? Truly I am tired of this country. My problem now is even if they agree they go owe well well this season be that. God help us.
