Buhari gave this warning at the 24th convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo, on Saturday.
The President, who was represented by Mr Ibrahim Yakasai, Director of Corporate Communications, National University Commission (NUC), said that development and progress could not thrive in a hate-filled and divisive society.
He said universities as home of great thinkers, should give guidance to the communities to enable the people to make informed decisions as the country approaches the 2019 general elections.
He said that the Federal Government would not condone or tolerate incendiary remarks from any person or group of persons which were meant to cause fear and spread hate in the country.
Buhari said that the federal government would continue to do its best to ensure the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property in the country.
“At this point, I want to be very clear and equivocal, that the Federal Government will never condone or tolerate incendiary remarks from any person or group of persons, which are meant to harass, intimidate, cause fear and spread hate, no matter how highly placed such a person is.
“Law enforcement agencies should fish out people who make inciting statements, instigate civil disobedience, broadcast hate speeches or stir strife, riot and rebellion and bring them to book.
“We should continue to live together as brothers and sisters,” Buhari said.
The president called on the fresh graduates to look beyond leaders who have failed themselves and the nation but choose their heroes from among those who believe in the progress of Nigeria and emulate those who are honest and work hard in their profession.
Buhari said there was need for the curriculum of Nigerian universities to be diversified to include entrepreneurial skills to help graduates employ themselves and others after graduation.

ReplyDeleteFFK should be the first arrest please. That man is more than a danger. A failure that he is. Leave Nnamdi Kanu for another day. That one has no balls.
ReplyDeleteThis una president is MAD!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy use such word for your president? This is rather unfair aside from being your president he can father you. If you don't like him why not wait till 2019 to vote him out of office.
DeleteLeave this uncout people. A clear sign of what the elders in their houses suffer on their tongues. He is mad but he is still your president and can make your whole family kiss his behind. Including you.
DeleteAnon08;27, easy easy.. so you don't choke. Now here is honey not bitter lemon. Rest a little, if you don't feel better, here is kunu freshly made from raw cow's milk. Just like you like it.
DeleteYou will get better, trust me.
Says a dictator...
ReplyDeleteLike your role model Nnamdi who has no balls right?
DeleteOh shut up!
DeleteWhen he made inciting comments prior to the 2015 election nobody arrested him. The intimidation continues.
ReplyDeleteThe inciting comments Jonathan’s boy like Reno Omokri made out to the public or the ones you actually read?
DeleteAnon 7:44 maybe it was Jonathan and his men that said ''If what happens in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the Dog and the Baboon will all be soaked in blood''. Keep defending a man that lack the intellectual know-how to govern a country.
DeleteGood move. People like Reno, Femi are on this list. There are better ways to address issues other than inciting people to evoke reactions bad enough for everyone.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you. Those guys are failures and sad that they have nothing to run to after their sustenance was cut off.
DeletePeople round the world incite. It’s not family business. This is even no heat. Go to developed countries where you will trashed. If you can’t take whatever heat you get ... leave.
ReplyDeleteEquivocal= Ambiguous, uncertain.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, the succeeding statements were made on an uncertain foundation.
Nigerian politics reeks of utter ignorance and folly. It's no wonder that it is nauseating.
Buhari is 100% guilty of same considering the kind of statements he utters whenever he is giving press conference abroad. And what about those statements he uttered those times he was losing elections. He should rather check himself first.
