The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Uzoma Dozie, said this in a statement signed by the bank’s Head of media, Ezechinyere Anyanwu on Friday in Abuja.
Dozie said: ”With this approval the bank will cease to operate as an International Bank. The re-licensing as a national bank supports Diamond’s objective of streamlining its operations to focus resources on the significant opportunities in the Nigerian retail banking market, and economy as a whole.
“The move follows Diamond’s decision to sell its international operations, which included the disposal of its West African Subsidiary in 2017 and Diamond Bank UK, the sale of which is currently in its final stages. The change to national bank status also enables the bank to maintain a lower minimum capital requirement of 10 per cent as against 15 per cent required for international banks.
Dozie said that the approval would enable the bank to deploy more capital for stronger growth in the quarters ahead through additional investment in technology platforms.

Trouble in paradise....
ReplyDeleteExactly!!! Diamond bank sold off all its international branch and they are already selling their assets. Stella this is not good news... They are only local because the bank is dying... Read or following the bank's report.
DeleteWhat are the gains for the employees? I hope they won't turn out like Union and First bank that pay their workers below their efforts.
ReplyDeleteSay what you know.
DeleteIf you cant stand the heat, get out.
ReplyDeleteDoxie will finally nail it.
Let's watch !!!
Someone said this here that Diamond bank is about to go down. Make una softly go carry una money de waka small small oh. I thought DIAMONDS are forever. Apparently Dozie did not get this right this time.
ReplyDeleteWith the stupid friend of his he brought in as an expatriate to em..... funds for him
DeleteThe idiot will eventually close that bank, people get competent people to run ur biz not necessarily your brainless children, thank God I left when I did ooooo.....
ReplyDeleteDiamond bank is in trouble!Nigerians do not know how big the trouble is! We are watching. Do you know the number of quality staff the bank has lot due to nepotism? Eye service banking! Instead of staff to look for accounts, Uzoma will be asking them to activate mobile app and *426 as if that is what is needed to stay afloat. What a silly bank!
ReplyDeleteI concur.
DeleteNepotism takes a corporate firm down faster than bad debts and it's ever present in Diamond bank. I have friends who were ex-staff who don't ply Adeola Hopewell street axis to avoid sighting Diamond Bank Towers.
Uzoma that doesn't have no 6. Sense knowledge and brilliance are 2 separate blessings.
This is not good news at all. Make I go remove my small change
ReplyDeleteDiamond Bank and mediocrity. I remember how everyone got a query for not activating enough Diamond Yello Account as if DYA is enough to stay relevant in the industry. If it's just because DYA, I don't resigning from my job abeg.
ReplyDelete*regret
DeleteDiamond bank is dead before.. Very useless bank.
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooo. Diamond bank the love of everyone is now a national bank. The bank is gone oo.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens to my friends in that bank
What is the 'thumbs up' emoji for? This simply means that Diamond bank no longer has the financial clout to continue to operate as an international bank. A 'demotion' actually. I wonder why Stella is celebrating this. It is actually an ominous sign, forget all the hogwash the bank's spokesperson spewed.
ReplyDeleteLol. The entity is either going to go into receivership or Access bank will acquire it, since Diamond has Access as a liability on their books.
ReplyDeleteBiko Diamond bank should not fall oo. Na there I dey receive my shikini npower 30k. I no get time for stories mbok
