Judge Dissolves Marriage Between Woman And Her ''House' Husband

An Igando Customary Court Lagos on Tuesday dissolved the marriage
between one Mrs Alimot Abass and her husband, Jimoh, over husband’s laziness.

The petitioner described her husband as a ‘House Husband’, a lazy man that loves staying at home doing nothing. “Jimoh is a lazy type. He does not do anything for a living and has refused to go out and look for a job. “He stays at home from morning till night, sleeping and snoring; you won’t see him struggling to provide at least food for the family.

“He fights me whenever I ask him for money or beg him to look for a job,” she said. The 32-year-old mother of one said that her husband had failed in all his responsibilities. “Jimoh is an irresponsible husband and father. He has never given me a kobo since the inception of our marriage; I have been the one responsible for the feeding, house rent, and paying our child’s school fees. “I was reduced to nothing in spite of the fact that I am a graduate. I was forced to do all manner of jobs just to provide for the family, with my husband caring less or doing anything to arrest the situation,” she said.

Alimot said that her husband absconded from their matrimonial home last year, without coming back to ask of her wellbeing and that of his daughter.
"Please court, terminate this loveless marriage so that I can move on with my life,” she pleaded.

(NAN) reports that the respondent refused to appear in court despite several court summons.

The Court President, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, in his judgment, said that it was obvious from available testimonies and the respondent’s refusal to appear in court that the marriage had hit the rocks. “The fact that the respondent abandoned his matrimonial home for a year without looking back or caring about the survival of his family is an indication that the marriage has broken down beyond retrieval.

"Throughout the duration of this case, the respondent refused to honour court processes, therefore, the court has no other choice than to dissolve the marriage,” he said.

Koledoye granted the custody of the only child to Alimot and ordered Jimoh to be paying N5, 000 monthly as feeding allowance for the child. In addition, he ordered Jimoh to be responsible for the child’s education and general welfare.

  8. Too many lazy men out there. Mine isn't any different. All talk and no action. No drive at all. Waiting for some magic to happen one day. I'm also watching and waiting. Marriage is just overrated!

    2. Marriage is not overrated my dear. It's quite unfortunate when one meets a man or woman who ends up being a bag of disappointment and a total opposite of what they showed during courtship.
Why don't you sit him down and have a heart to heart talk with him? And both of you can map out how to handle finances together with mutual contribution. Ask him what challenges he's facing with work or biz and both of you can come out with solutions.
If not resentment will just kill whatever feelings you have for each other.

    3. In your watching and waiting pls don't have any additional child. It's good this poster had just a child atleast her hustle as a single mom will be less.
I just ran from a situationship myself. This guy lied to me that he was working not knowing he was out of job becos we were in separate towns. He recently lied he got a job. I said okay let me see the offer letter you got. Na there the bubble burst. Told him I want out, can't stand lazy men. Okay use your car to do uber pending. He prefers sitting home doing nothing all day. I took my leave even though I'm in my 30s. Im a career woman doing well, a lazy man will draw your life back.
It is never too late to start again. Any man you see lazy during courtship won't be any better during marriage.
He even told me at my age I shld be happy he dated me. I will never find someone else.
The same month a guy I have been ignoring since 2016 is asking my hand in marriage. I'm just taking me time to study him.
