I quickly adapted to motherhood, thanks to my experienced friends and google, I received lots of cash gift of over 2000 dinars, I kept the money and decided to return back to Nigeria.
Before the repatriation process sponsored by IOM, returning back to Nigeria was difficult, you could only get flights tickets during festive period, So returning to Nigeria wasn't something someone could wake up and do,but the presence of IOM changed everything and flights were made available thanks to the Slave trade saga.
After spending 41 days at home, I went to the embassy and got my Emergency Travel Certificate and I registered to be repatriated back home.
I used all the cash gifts I got for baby clothes and some valuables since sending money to Nigeria was impossible, I arranged my goods and occasionally went to the embassy to inquire about my flight date. The waiting period was very long and boring so I decided to learn more Arab cuisine from our landlady, her house was just stone throw from ours...
I would stroll there in the afternoon with my son and develop my skills. I spent my afternoons with her and read online gossips in the evening, during one of my gossip rendezvous, I came across SDK blog September 2017 and I became addicted to it because of the BVs comment; they were funny and kept me entertained.
After 3 months of registration, I got a call from the embassy, I went to the embassy, got my TC and flight ticket, I went back home and informed my friends, they were all happy and those that registered for repatriation kept their fingers crossed.
I arrived Nigeria with my Son on 30th Nov. 2017, it was a breathe of fresh and for the first time in years, I smiled and muttered 'Home Sweet Home'.
Let me also chip this in, the reason why it is difficult to return home immediately you get to Libya is that, most girls were taken to the shrine to swear with their lives not to run away or disclose anything to anyone.
Some girl's pubic hair and armpit are collected and kept until you finish paying your Mistress.
Before the inception of IOM, flights only move during holidays or festive period, so you have to keep thriving till then.
I hope this my story discourages people from going to Libya, because nothing good can come out of Libya, for every 200 rescued girls, there are still over 2000 girls trapped in prisons.
I went with goals and ambition but I came back with low self-esteem but not afraid to speak up, not afraid to start afresh because I am a survivor.
The End.
The guy that got her pregnant... Did he abandoned her?

You are really a survivor. Well done. You will really find closure. Nigeria is good and bad but people still make it here. No place like home despite our useless government.

ReplyDelete@Fan, only individuals with low self esteem and inferiority complex will treat her son as a king. No, she's not lucky, that child was a product of her harrowing experience.
ReplyDelete@Poster, sorry about everything you went through. Know that sharing your story has encouraged others, your strength has helped people contemplating suicide, if you could survive, they would too. You're a sound and literate person, and I know you didn't envision all these when you embarked on the journey.
My cousin is a doctor with one of the agencies that help Libya returnees and she gave me details of their experience. What's saddening is the fact that it is the Nigerians who sell out and betray their brothers over there. According to my cousin, some said they are planning to go back (those crossing to Europe) as they are wiser now and know where to avoid. Oooh poverty!!!!!
Chai u really saw hell, thank God for ur life, I read from beginning to end, u are a truly a survivor... Cheers to you and your son

ReplyDeleteYou are indeed a survivor God grace and strength has you heal and beginning anew. But we should learn from you, how many madams in Nigeria are willingly to pay SSCE holders good salary as maid here in Nigeria. or encourage them to pursue dreams of an education we are perpetrating our own traffic here on home soil. How many of us have maids we maltreat or even bother to pay? We make there money big in our eyes because of difference in exchange rate that is all if Naira was equal to all currencies in the world will you be a maid in another man's land? let's start from home pay that your houseboy/girl well, treat them well
ReplyDeleteThank God for your life. Thanks for sharing as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is well with you and your son, you are a very strong woman May the grace of God be with you to start all over with your son.

ReplyDeleteThank God you made it out alive. Thanks for speaking out! I hope that your story deters others. In the last part, you talked about having goals and ambitions. ReplyDeletePoster I'm so happy you overcame everything you went through. You are indeed a super woman and a rare gem.E- hugs to you and your baby.
ReplyDeleteDear Poster, you are beyond strong and a survivor you are the role model we all look for in this country. yes you were ill advised to leave but you stood your ground girl, you never gave in, you were in charge you fought for your values, your ethics and your morals. you prove that prostitution is not an option. you were there but you choose not to go that road and you choose not to dehumanized or sell your fellow nigerians even though others were doing it. what happened almost weakened your resolve but you held your guns and did not give him. My dear raise up your head high look in the mirror and see the warrior that you are. You went into an unknown battle and my dear from my point of view you conquered, your scars will take time to heal but they are testament of the warrior queen that you are. Hold your held high you did not give in and neither did they break you.
ReplyDeletePlus you may thing God was not there but he was go to him for full healing place at his feet your pain and surrender to him. you do not need an alfa or a pastor go to him daily in that quiet place of your room he is healing you let go and let God in
ReplyDeleteMay u locate a helper. Ur child will grow in wisdom.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE A SURVIVOR!!
ReplyDeleteChao...you're a survivor
ReplyDeleteAlways been a silent bv....but l cant help but comment today, couldn't help the tears that rolled down my eyes after reading the whole epistle..... I pray you find the strength and courage you need to get back on your feet quickly
ReplyDeleteNever have i been traumatized this much after reading about an individuals ordeal. I was literally scared throughout the night. But i pray for strength ,courage and the confidence you need to pursue your ambitions to be restored back to you in Jesus name. Affliction shall not rise again. It is well with you and i pray for heavenly intervention for the people who are still trapped in libyan prison to be rescued in Jesus name and the so called asma people's syndicate be destabilized such that they will be drunken with their own blood and fed with their own flesh in Jesus mighty name. Amen
ReplyDeleteStella, it has been two years now since the final part of this series was completed, is there any update on the submitter/survivor? How are things going for her now in Nigeria?
ReplyDelete
