PARENTAL DUTY

Good day Stella. Fix this anywhere it belong.

I was at the park some days ago and there was a lady selling food at the park there. She came with her daughter that will be like 5years old. When she arrived , two elderly drivers approached her to buy food.

One of them was telling the kid that yesterday she was sick and dull but today she has recovered and she is vibrant. The other driver was touching/playing with her and calling her my beautiful wife. He bought rice #150 and meat#50.

He told the lady to give him two spoons. He carried the food and the kid and went towards the end of the park and entered his bus with the kid and from where I was sitting , I don't have a clear vision of them again (rice of #150 will not be enough for the man, then why feeding another person)

I alighted and approached the lady selling food. I asked her if the kid was her daughter and she said yes. I asked her why she allowed the elderly man to leave her sight with her daughter, she said that she know the man and he will do her no harm. I told her that this is a park and the rate of rape and molestation is high now, that she as a mother is not supposed to allow that man to be playing with her daughter that way , calling her his wife and leaving her sight with the kid.

She said "ok, thank you"

I left.

Stella believe me, it is only 10% of parents protect their kids from abusers.

Most business women/men will take their kid(s) to shop and will not pay attention to know who they follow. The ones that go to office will leave their kids in the hands of neighbour, house help or relatives and will never ask them how was their day when they come back from work.

Some protect only their female child forgetting the male child as if they are above abuse.

Parents if a friend visit you, tell your kids to address them as Mr/Mrs ******(their name) . stop all this uncle/aunty stuff. It makes kids feel relaxed with them and consider them as family.

Also be observant when your kids are with relatives too because everybody is a suspect these days.

*What a pity...you should have gone to see what the man took the little girl away for....I will not lie but all these stories have really had a negative effect on me,i am so suspicious of anyone near any child and i always ask my Boys questions as well...I don't know what you people who have little girls go through but i can imagine the fear of abuse...God forbid, punish and blast away any dirty hands touching our kids...OMG

    2. I do not know about removing the intestines for cosmetic reasons but I guess if you go to Thailand, anything is possible cosmetically. ( check- I’m not even commenting on ribs cos you can take out up to 6, more than that isn’t advisable but people still see doctors who can decide to do it especially in Thailand etc)

Medically, you can have your intestines removed/shortened. My son had some pet of his removed cos of cancer. I can’t write it all but No complications per se except the fact that
      1. It is very difficult to add weight. We’ve been battling to get his weight up for months. It’s a daily struggle. We are still in treatment though so that also contributes to the weight loss.

      2. Your body cannot process roughage and wheat products so you can’t eat some vegetables and some grains (if they have a high roughage content like unprocessed rice etc

      3. Once you eat, you poop within 2 hours. It doesn’t take long for food to go from intake to output cos the process within is shorter. Another reason for the difficulty in adding weight. You chop, you poop. You drink, it goes right out.

I thank God everyday we were able to get to the States to save my son’s life. It was a life saving procedure for us, i don’t understand why anyone would do it for vanity sake but I guess to each his/her own. **shudders**

  2. This is for the Anon that complained on today’s SP about having acne breakout and asking for a good oily skin care regimen. I saw the comment late, sorry about that.
First I must warn you that skin care can be pricey. This is because most good products that are safe for oily skin are foreign and are produced in a controlled environment where QA/QC is at the fore.
This is a not-too-expensive-but-not-cheap skin regimen you can try(please note that it won’t give overnight results) Dedication and continuity is key
1.Wash your face at least twice a day with a gentle foaming soap. You can use :
    a. Cetaphil gentle foaming cleanser
    b. Aveeno clear complexion foaming cleanser
c, Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash
    2. Refrain from scrubbing your skin. Avoid using sponges or hard face towels on your face
3.Use an astringent/toner / cleanser after morning and evening bath. It helps close/tighten your pores and reduce oil production. It also balances the pH of your skin and makes it more receptive to other products. See below some good toners for acne prone skin
    a. Thayers' witch hazel alcohol free toner.
b.Pixi Skintreats Glowtonic exfoliating toner is great. It contains glycolic acid which fights acne.
    c. Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Stress Control -triple action toner contains salicylic acid which helps in acne control
    d. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
4.Use an oil free moisturizer after toning especially at night. People with oily skin need moisturizer too. If your face is too dry, it tricks your skin into producing even more oil. Some good moisturizers are:
    a. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water gel moisturizer with Hyaluronic acid
    b. Cetaphil moisturizing lotion for face and body
    c. Clinique moisture surge
    d. Neutrogena Acne Free Oil moisturizer
    5. Make use of makeup and lotions that are strictly NONCOMEDOGENIC. This means that before you buy are product, make sure it is oil free and alcohol free. Water based make up and products are better for sensitive skins than oil-based products.
    6. Never sleep with even the lightest makeup. Even if you use facewipes.
    7. A lot of hair care products are oil based so please avoid your hair touching your face as much as possible.
    8. Drink 3 litres of water everyday, (at least 2 litres) to flush out toxins. What you take in your mouth shows on your skin too. If you are allergic diary products, it would cause break out when you take it.
    7. Use a good sunscreen before applying your face cream like Cetaphil Daylong Light gel which is great for oily skin.
If you do all these and see no improvement (which I doubt) consult a dermatologist. He/she can prescribe some acne treatments or Retin-A

But first you must be a registered nurse, and you must have a letter of sponsorship bcos anaesthesia is very expensive ooh. If you're self sponsor then you must have at least two million naira ready in your bank account. But once you finish, my dear you will always be grateful you did bcos we're the highest paid nurses all over the world.
