Iya Ibeji Series -RE: Married To A Yahoo Boy

The day MARRIED TO A YAHOO BOY was posted, I came online late, and was shocked to see over 80 comments I quickly dashed in to read, na so I see dear BVs raining insults on me, oh boy I buy market.

At first the harsh words were getting to me, but then something else got to me even more, the number of comments. Where did these people come from? So I have this much readers?

Dear BVs of SDK blog why is it that we prefer bad over good. I have been writing on this blog since 2017 and this Ranti's post gave me my second highest number of comments. The highest number of comments I have gotten on this blog was when I talked about s#x.

I have talked about some pretty good things, like my work at the prisons, orphanage etc. How many comments did I get? I have written and waited patiently till Saturday to read comments but I will see only 10, 18 and the highest used to be 23. ......

Why are comments so important to me? Comments help you know that your work is appreciated and Sometimes I get very discouraged but the comments keep me going.

Being good on social media rarely pays, that's why you have people telling lies  on Twitter, going half naked on IG etc.

So right now I'm fighting the temptation of either remaining the ol' iya beji or going to the fabu side, and very being controversial.

I love being me, it's easy being me, but controversy brings in the comments, right?

Back to the married to a Yahoo boy post, I was crucified for nothing ,I shared my thoughts without holding barriers. Only 2 things i forgot to include in the post..
1) Yes I was jealous of Ranti....

2) I didn't mean to insult Ranti, when I said she can't write a good sentence, I was only trying to describe her. I don't write very good English myself. (If you haven't noticed it's because Stella does a good job of covering my tracks)

And yes she married a Yahoo boy....

  1. its hard to keep commenting on every post. i wonder how i used to do it before. sometimes other people have the same opinion so we just kukuma move to another post.

    3. Iya ibeji I think that there are two major factors that influence the number of comments per post

CHOICE OF TITLE this attracts the attention of bvs

CONTENT OF WRITE-UP this determines how interested readers find your write-up and are willing to share their various thoughts on a particular topic

Although CONTROVERSIAL stories make the most participation here

Personally you wrote beautifully on the initial post
      You were honest and real
So most of us could virtually touch your words

We were able to relate with the story

Please don't stop writing cuz people bash you
Rather use their feedback as a tool to grow your writing and reader base

    2. Mrs avenger, the voice of the voiceless. Are you Ranti? Is Ranti even her real name? Is Ranti bothered? She is probably not a bv,even if she is she won’t know it’s about her. Why you carry am for head like gala? Why can’t people appreciate honesty? Ok so she should pretend in her own column ?Write your own segment, oh righteous one let’s read or go to Twitter for all those fake stories

      Delete
    3. Just imagine the story being told without her personal thoughts and perceptions. It would have been same old boring yahoo boy story.

      Delete
  5. You shouldn't have included number 2 because it still boils down to the reason you were insulted.

Truth be told, aside from the yahoo boy message you were trying to pass that day, you really did LOOK DOWN on Ranti which is WRONG.

How can you say a banker, oil worker etc. cannot marry a girl as unenlightened as Ranti? That's a total downgrade. It does happen. I have heard and seen it happen.

For someone who is older in age and who has probably "seen life", I would have thought you'd know better.

Anyway, keep being you...but should you choose to be controversial, really, who cares?

  6. Some people are only good at bashing others Iya Ibeji. They can't contribute, but are always quick to attack anyone who does. You were only being human. Don't let the negative comments get to you. You're doing a great job.. Kudos

    1. That's how most people are wired. I actually rem that post well and it made me realise that truly not those with first class go make am. The only snag was the riches Ranti is enjoying is ill-gotten. Yahoo will remain becos a lot of Nigerians support bad things. Too much greed and love of money is our major problem

I give them kudos, especially those that type epistles spontaneously!
Even you, iya Ibeji, I hardly see or read your comments on this blog.

  26. Another thing is not all guys are into yahoo. I have noticed once people don't understand your business na yahoo you dey do. I have had a road incident before and man in the other car assumed someone bought the jeep for me. Old ML jeep for crying out loud and I just got annoyed. I work and earn very well. I pay my bills and contribute my quota in my home. Why assume sebi dey buy car for you, aristo, runs etc. Naija men can be myopic and egocentric. He just needed to make me feel bad after bashing me because he was driving a rickety car. And he could see I had children in the car. His friend knew he was wrong and kept apologising. I just assumed he was drunk as he didn't behave sane and drove off...I cannot shout with a crazy man

    ReplyDelete
  27. I had NEVER read any Iya Ibeji post before the one on Ranti. I don't know what your other posts contained but envious people make me irritated. Nobody was being judgemental; the way you thought you had a right to talk nonsense and say you were just being yourself is the way people have a right to tell you that something is wrong with you. Like I said before, that was the first one I read, so I don't know if that's how all the other posts are. But if the Ranti one is a true reflection of who you are, you need serious spiritual and psychological help.

When people want to continue doing evil, they scream "don't judge". To a large extent, many people know the right thing to do. Sorry but if you alight from a car, pull down your trousers and start defecating in the middle of a busy road - we will call you a mad person. It's not being judgemental. If you don't want or like to be called a mad person, don't act like one. It's the nonsense of "don't judge, don't judge" that means a fully grown man abroad can wake up one morning and sue for his right to be identified as a diaper-wearing baby. And instead of nipping it in the bud and locking him up on a mental ward, someone will be talking about his right to behave and believe anything. Shior!

Envy is a mental or spiritual disease that sick people use to justify their behaviour that is nothing more than witchcraft. I prefer an illiterate to an envious person, no matter how well-read or moneyed the envious person is. The sad thing about envious people is that they can never be happy. Please, deal with your envy issues before you physically kill someone or you get used for rituals because you're trying to compete with someone you think you should be better than.

  28. I am one of those that like to glanced through your write up.. I commend you for doing well, you have addmited to have been jealous of ranti, very well then.. keep doing what you're good for iya beji.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Just keep being you. We all get jealous of one thing or the other at one point in our lives. You're not expected to be different just because you make your experiences public.

I read your posts but hardly comment (didn't comment on that post either, I guess). Not all of us are good with typing jare.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was equally surprised at the negative comments. The first thing that came to my mind when I read that post was that this writer is very honest to acknowledge that she thought she had better chances in life than ranti and yet things turned out differently. I respected the fact that in a world where people always hide the vilest thoughts of their hearts with fake smiles and compliments, you just blurted out your truth even if it made you look bad. It’s easy to condemn the one that is out in the open while skillfully hiding ours. Keep being you.

  32. Truly, commenting can be really tasking and that is why I only comment when I'm less busy so I can stalk that my particular comment to see who said what needs to be addressed. That aside, I ready that Ranti article too and truth be told I wanted to bash iya beji but when I saw all the comments I took a chill pill. You don't look down on people like that a beggar can be a king in a twinkle of an eye that's life for you. Like I always say bad things happen to good people and food things happen to bad people it's just simple life's phenomenon. For those of you that thrive for attention and blog chanting e.g that irritant of a man I say more power to you.

    1. You just contradicted yourself dear "You don't look down on people...." and yet you called someone an irritant, I guess you are referring to TeeJay. Do you and let others do them, you must not like everyone here, simply pass their comments and don't refer to people with such words "irritant" you might be an "irritant" to someone on this blog as well but no one has called you out. Goodday!

    2. And the fool of a teejay you are supporting don't look down on people? Imbecile

  33. please take the criticism and go. It makes your work better. That post wasn't even about the fact that she married a yahoo boy, it was about RANTI. You looked down on her and explicitly stated that she didn't deserve a wealthy husband. Which is why you dug deeper to ensure the husband's wealth wasn't legal. People telling you they understand being mean out of jealousy are speaking for themselves. It's human nature to be jealous but it's evil to act on it, write a whole post on it talking about how Ranti doesn't deserve better. If you wanted the post to be about yahoo boys the post would have been about the yahoo boy husband yet it was about Ranti. Don't let people's sugar coating things deceived you. You messed up. Don't look for how to massage your ego, come back with a juicy story next time and watch the comments flow in.
