Back in 2014, Ms. Josephine Agwu found ?12 million inside the airport toilet and returned it. She was praised and received cash gifts for the commendable act. Subsequently, she also found ?10 million, ?8 million, and ?7 million forgotten by travellers in the airport, and each time, she returned the suitcase containing the money over to the authorities.
In a recent interview, Ms Agwu complained about the level of poverty in Nigeria. She also pointed out that in other countries, she would have been better rewarded for what she did, but that isn’t the case in Nigeria.
She said: As you see me, I’m a person people know the whole world today. But see. Nobody in Nigeria do what I did.
I return money four times in Nigeria. I’m a cleaner, the year 2014 in Murtala Muhammed, return 12 million, return 10 million, return 8 million, return 7 million.
But if na other countries, I’ll be an ambassador to telling youths that honest is paying. But now see. They close it. Nobody to remember it.
But I’m happy. I know that one day…

Me Integrity shd look into this matter. Madam once u start complaining, God may delay his plans for jor even stop it! Integrity doesn’t seek reward but what do I know? Some low lives like the one above me must have gotten to u with his words. Don’t do anything in life for REWARDS allow him in heaven 2 do his works in ur life, it may be ur grandchild or children who will reap your good deeds. Don’t stop being nice
DeleteExactly! If she finds money next time and keep it nobody would suspect her because she has a reputation of honesty. Plus, in an airport nah money mulling tings most likely. Who showed up to collect the money back.
Delete12.01 ur sense of reasoning STINKS
DeleteJosephine josephine my daughter..how many times did I call you..I blessed you the first time you didn't know..Bcos am God of second chance, I blessed you again but you returned it again. .I blessed you 2 times more....I can see that all the prayers you prayed was not from your heart. .to be poor is your choice.
DeleteKeep up the good work ma, someday, your honesty will pay off.
ReplyDeleteYesterday someone bought bedsheet from me and under priced it. He quickly paid me in a rush from a huge sum of money he brought out and left.
After which, I counted the money and realised it was more by 500 naira.
I had to count repeatedly to be sure.
Then, I went and returned his money to me. He was surprised he overpaid me and collected it quickly.
I was glad i did the right thing. Keeping it wouldn't have made me richer, but a pricking conscience would have become my companion.
They knew you would find & return it so they "save" it where it is accessible to you...
DeleteMa u are right.... Weary not in well doing. God will reward u
ReplyDeleteI watched the interview. I don't know what to say

DeleteWe do good for the satisfaction of it;making the next person happy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we get our rewards here;but more often than not,we don't,
Should we then stop doing good?
Should we pay ourselves instead??
If your conscience is dead,it will be easy to do otherwise.
All in all,Posterity will never forget you....A good name,is better than riches.(remember the post last week on how a man was sent forth)
May God help us all.
When God was blessing you,you were throwing it back at his face looking for ambassadorship. dey there make pant wear you
ReplyDeleteU have a sick mind. Don’t encourage rubbish. Somehow someday u will pay that money back! It’s a simple law of nature

ReplyDeleteGod uses men to bless his children. Listen to your inner voice to decode the message.
ReplyDeleteBe honest not because you seek for a reward from men,but because it pleases God.
ReplyDeleteHonesty shouldn't be for the financial gains we wish to get, it should be for legacy and conscience sakes.
Woman continue to do good and be not weary. Probably the reason you have not been rewarded is that you are looking in the wrong direction. Look on to God and He will abundantly reward you with that which cannot be gainsaid.
ReplyDeleteFrom most of the comments I see the reason our country remains the way it is. We have no moral justification to blame politicians it we continue to think this way. It is well with this nation.Γ
Anon 12.15 country wey don tear finish, Nigeria wey don finish ! Let my husband come and tell you about the monumental corruption going on in NNPC, civil service etc then you will know that na to share the country begin chop am remain. we should all learn to do good without expecting a reward, if reward comes fine, if it doesn't life goes on, don't ever regret doing good cos you were not rewarded. there was a day I bought yam of 1400, gave the women 2k , she was to give me 600, but she doesn't want the woman pricing yam to know how much I'm paying, cos I actually price it like tomorrow no dey, she mistakenly gave me 1500, yes, she mistook 1k for 100 naira, I didn't check well until I got home, I was broke that day ehn, but I know no matter the situation i must not eat another man's sweat, took bike to meet the woman , she initially thought I was saying my change is not complete, but when she understands, she was so happy, and I was happy too, she said a lot of people will never return the money, and I smile, though I payed for transport to her place, to return her money, I was happy, cos I know she may not get that amount as profit at the end of the day
ReplyDeleteGod bless u
DeleteJosephine you should have kept the money. Stop complaining. You were converted to a civil servant despite not having certificate. Presently now she is a civil servant. She also got money and house compensation. You were warned to keep the money your oversabi no gree u .Your colleague

DeleteHeard this story from my sister that works at the Airport....
Madam YOU ARE DESTINED TO BE POOR !! You didn’t steal the money you found, God put it in your way so that you can be rich ! Some of the money you returned were proceeds from money laundering activities. You wanted people to praise you instead of keeping the money and quietly enjoy it with your children and starting a side business with retirement from ‘cleaner work’ in view. Nigeria, a country where your leaders are stealing everyday, money for projects are siphoned into personal accounts and used to send their children abroad. Nigeria does not celebrate honesty or good behavior o! Don’t you see how they celebrate fraudsters, thieving governors and multimillionaire ritualists? Madam you have not done well for your family. Anyway, daddy freeze is helping you gather some money to give you as reward for your honesty. If you dare pay any pastor tithe out of that money then I will know you are a foolish woman and you will never be rich.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn’t mk it right pls
DeleteReward is in heaven. Oh kodwa mama, you should've taken the 3rd or the 4th one na. God blessed you 4 good times with millions of naira...
ReplyDeleteSo She saw Millions not More than Once And She Mumulicious Reture It.. Madam you Self no do well..
ReplyDeleteSee demπ.......make I no talk wetin dey my mindπ
ReplyDeleteMadam, never mind..... keep doing good.
Madam you should have kept the money. Why will you return such?
ReplyDeleteMadam,do you know what the so called govt did with your returned money? Why are you like this?Sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteIn as much as I commend her good work. Integrity should be a part Of your life. This shouldn't b done so that u can b rewarded and ur heavenly father will reward u
ReplyDeleteShe should not complain. Do not do good bcos you want something in return.
ReplyDeleteGod bless her always
Good name is better than silver and gold. But if we all start doing good and expect returns immediately, then we are not really good, besides I think they gave her commendations, recognition and some money. Was she seriously expecting to be rich from doing good? We need to change our mindset in Nigeria. The western counties we seek to go to, their citizens do good not for any reward but because it is ingrained in them from school/childhood to make the world a better place without seeking anything in return - my 2 cents
ReplyDeleteAwww. May God reward you for your honesty.
