Guber Candidate Jimi Agbaje Faults Sanwo-Olu’s Rice Gift To Civil Servants..

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has faulted the distribution of bags of rice to civil servants by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Agbaje expressed the position in a statement by Mr Felix Oboagwina, his Director of Media and Publicity on Friday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sanwo-Olu had distributed bags of rice to workers after a meeting with them at the state secretariat,Ikeja on Thursday.

Agbaje alleged that the bags of rice had on them the logo of the APC on them and their distribution violated civil service decorum and neutrality.

We find the invitation and the rice gift appalling, opportunistic and illegal.

In a political contest of the nature in which Sanwo-Olu and the rest of us are involved, he has been offered an undue advantage. An uneven playing field has been created. And this is condemnable and contemptible.

The gesture goes against Nigerias bureaucratic statutes that forbid civil servants romancing politics. For crying out loud, there are still regulations preventing civil servants from involving in politics.

That invitation and the rice gifts is a violation of those extant rules, he said.

He claimed that civil servants who refused to show up for the meeting stood the grave danger of being marked down for discrimination, intimidation and witch-hunting.

According to him, it is to maintain neutrality and decorum that soldiers and police were similarly barred from involvement in politics.

Agbaje added that politicians were prevented from campaigning in uniformed personnel's barracks and formations to preserve the political neutrality of security agencies.

It is a shame to see civil servants struggling and hurting themselves just to get a small bag of Sanwo-Olu rice.

But it is even more shameful to subject the crop of Nigeria's middle-class to such an indignity, Agbaje said.

    Goodluck to Agbaje

  3. I wish him too to win but the election won't be free and fair. Losing Lagos will be Tinubu worse nightmare and may cause him grave health challenges.

My guys in Lagos were saying something yesterday, that some group of touts have started threatening the Igbos in Lagos not to dare come out to vote, knowing fully well that Igbos will vote Jimi. I thought they said the Igbos votes in Lagos doesn't matter, so why are they suddenly afraid? The last time I checked, it was just hundred thousand votes APC used in winning PDP in Lagos last gubernatorial election. Truth is that, the Igbos will be a deciding factor in Lagos election whether they like it or not.

    1. Eka it's not easy for an opposition campaigning or doing things to keep them in the minds of the electorates before election period proper. Do you know how much is involve in doing all that? Jimi doesn't have that kind of money to do that.

Do you think it is easy to wrestle power from Tinubu the bullion van politician?

    2. And that is why nothing is heard from him for 4 whole years?
How come he crawls out of his hole when it's time to campaign?

I usually don't comment on politics but this..doesn't show he's a serious politician.

  12. There have been widespread reports about raids carried out on shops owned by non-indigenes in some parts of Lagos State, especially those of Igbo extraction.
The most recent of such raids, News Express gathered, were the ones carried out during the week, purportedly by officials of the Task Force Unit of Ojodu Local Council Area (LCDA) under Ikeja Local Government Council, Lagos State.
It is alleged that the attacks on Igbos are as a result of the February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections which saw the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) narrowly defeating the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state.
Victims of the incessant raids are pointing accusing fingers at a former chairman of Ojodu LCDA and APC’s candidate for Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives as the sponsor of the raids.
“We are told that he instructed the (Ojodu) Council Task Force to descend on us after the Presidential/NASS elections held last Sunday.
“They say he is claiming that he gave money to Igbos to vote for APC in the elections but the Igbos turned around to vote for PDP,” Mr Jude Ezeh who runs a beer parlour in Ojodu area said when our Correspondent visited his shop, a sit-out popular for cow tail pepper soup, “nkwobi” and goat head delicacies in the area.
Jude, as he is popularly known, an indigene of Anambra State, said he was just coming back from the Council office where he parted with N20,000 before his 30 plastic chairs and tables, forcefully carted away by the Council officials on Monday, were released to him.
“I have been running this business for almost 30 years now, nothing like this has ever happened. They said we Igbos voted for PDP instead of APC, what is my business there? I didn’t collect money from any politician. I have my PVC and I voted according to my conscience. Let them go to whoever collected their money and leave my business alone,” said Jude.

They should understand violence has never solve any problem but if they choose such way to go, we won't hesitate to defend ourselves in retaliation. Bola Tinubu should continue his antics until he gets what he wants.

Do you know their shops were lock shortly after the presidential election? Didn't we all saw the videos where the youth in Lagos were throwing stones and bottle to the Igbo, telling them to go back to their village, that Lagos is their own. So I ask you @Fyn Ijebu chic what does that statement means to you? How do I send the video to you? So you can be sure of what I am saying.

11:38 when truth is been told in Nigeria, it will be labelled a hate speech. Time will surely vindicate us.
