  19. Yesterday chronicle brought back memories.
As a newly wed, I offered to contribute to the household expenses so my husband doesn’t have to pay for everything, he excitedly told me to handle the feeding and fuel that he will handle the rest.
Immediately I started, the way we fed at home changed. I upgraded everything. Because of work, I cook soups and stews on weekends. And my soups and stews are always very rich, every time I finish cooking, hubby will bring big flasks for the different dishes I cook to take to his mother. I did it without complain until it became regular, every week for 8months his mum and sisters feed from what I cook at home.
Mind you, we do not live in the same house. Just the same town.
Feeding all of them meant more expenses for me, infact too much expenses that it started affecting my savings.
I complained to hubby and it caused a very big fight between us, he made it seem like I hate his family so I just dropped the issue.
He said common food Is all I contribute and I can’t even do it without complaining, what else do I use my money for.
I tried reducing the ingredients that costs me money and it was his mother’s turn to complain. That why will I reduce the number of meats and all in her food. On top my own money o.
I just got fed up after about a year of working and cooking like a slave.
One day I just sat down and calculated what I spent on our feeding in a year and I discovered It was more than our house rent.
So I lovingly told hubby that we should switch, let him pay for food while I pay the rent. He agreed.
So i jejely went to the market and bought more flasks, I made sure it was same size with the ones he gives his mum food with.
So after cooking, I dished in all the flasks, he asked me who the extra flasks was for, I said my mum. So as he’s going to give his mother her flasks, I go to give my mum too.
Me I kuku like cooking so no stress at all.
But then giving my mother food too meant him spending more money on food. After feeding both our mothers and sisters for 3months body start to pepper am.
He will squeeze face whenever I request for money for food, I pretended not to notice.
Anyways, i took in before the 4th month and I faked serious morning sickness.
So during weekends, I will just sit in a comfortable chair and be giving him instructions . After cooking for just 2 weekends,he told me we have to stop this madness.
Let our sisters cook for our mothers let’s just focus on ourselves.
I refused o, told him my mother has gotten used to the food so there’s no way we will stop. Does that mean he hates my family? Because there was no complain when it was just his family.
My guy beg beg beg and even almost called my mum to beg me because I was ready to turn the house upside down. I had been planning my revenge since and I wasn’t going to make it easy for him.

We eventually settled sha and he said I shouldn’t pay for anything again. Atleast for the time being I should recuperate from all the money I spent already.
That’s how we’ve been till today, it’s been 4 years now and he still won’t let me pay for anything. Infact he even believes God has been blessing him more since he assumed the full role of a husband.

    1. Just check different airline sites and compare prices for the time and date suitable for you and go ahead and book with your debit card, that's all. An e-ticket will be sent to your email which you can tender at their counter at airport. Type the name of the airline on goggle it will lead you to their official page.

      Delete
    2. Nobody should laugh at u... it was a first time for everyone someday... just go to airpeace website...i think its www.flyairpeace.com and select your flight plan... you can book on hold and pay at the bank later or using the ATM or you can just conclude the payment on the site using your AtM card details. Your reciept will be sent to you and get yourself early to the airport on your day of travelling.. no need paying extra to an agent...

      Delete
    3. www.flyairpeace.com
      www.flydanaair.com

Go to these websites and check the cheapest and time suitable for you. Book and pay with your card. Screenshot your PNR /booking reference code and show them at the airport when you get there. A text would still be sent to your phone anyways.

Who still uses agents to book domestic flights ?
      Even international flights sef.

      Delete
    4. which of the airline are you using?
      just go their website.
      www.airpeace.com and follow instructions.
is actually very easy,is not as ambiguous as you think. book on time like one week to your departure to get a cheaper price.

      Delete
    5. Google Airpeace ,click the link to their site. And follow the instructions. One way is for one way. Return is for to and fro.
I recommend Airpeace cuz that what I use. It is relatively cheaper and reliable. U book ahead 2 get a cheaper price
      There's always a 1st time with /for everything.

    6. Google is your friend. Use your laptop or phone, do everything online yourself. Its very easy. airpeace, arik or dana

    7. Most times flights are cheaper through the agents compared to buying directly from the airlines especially on international flights that one has to pay in dollars and be debited on naira. For local flights, i have no idea.

  30. Let me rewrite that list:

    Yam- 4tubers @N700 - 2,800
    Eggs- N1000/crate 30pcs of eggs.
Nooddles- not needed, substitute with spaghetti and macaroni. N250/1 buy 3. You can't finish it in a month, use it as substitute for beans, or make jollof with crayfish and egg(optional).
Tissue- Extra big ones 2 - 1000.(can last for 6months). Wash ass after poo and use tissue after pee.
    Plantain- 8 sticks N400
Dried fish-N2,000. To be used only for important soup.
    Stock fish-1,000
Toothpaste- 300(can last for a month plus)
    Omo sunlight 1kg, N1,100(can last for 4months)
Carton of soap Canoe/Bimbo-N3k-4k can last for a year.
Homemade soap for doing dishes-materials N2000, can last for a year. Just keep enough bottles and space for storing, dilute with water when about to use.
Crayfish- N2,000(crayfish is scarce) when it's in season, buy dry under the sun blend a portion and keep the rest in an airtight container, for months.
Panla fish- another beautiful option and also nice when used in soups, porridge, and palm oil rice. N200 for 4pcs. Buy 8 when making your soups.
Poundo yam- use with alternatives semo, garri, wheat. Pondo can be used once a while. Semo, wheat-N500 each, garri -500, poundo -

Diaper/wipes- buy cheaper versions, even kirkland with scent costs N1,100. So there must be cheaper versions
Baby food- introduce him to solids, mashed sweet potato, mashed yam and oil, babies love it. Then you can never go wrong with ogi made buy you, add dawa dawa, and the likes)

    Dstv-7,000
Buy foods in season- cocoyam 3 sets N500 for white cocoyam, 2 sets 400 for red cocoyam, my sis you can't finish it in one week and potatoes are everywhere, sub with vegetables and salads, you get full faster. Ditch foods that aren't in season.
Fuel for the house- stick to switching on from 12 - 4pm, and from 8-9pm cos of the weather, have cold baths and apply white powder to cool your body.

Next time you want to buy frozen food, buy quater of whatever you buying, fish, chicken turkey, quater can sserve you twice, so let's say you buy chicken 3000, you'll use it for 2 Sunday's we have 4 Sunday's in a month, do the maths. Same for fish and turkey but at different prices.

Tomato season- when next you go to aboki, tell him you want everything N500, you'll have enough, tomatoes, rodo, sumbo, peper and onions to fill a big black bag, you can't finish that stew in 1 week, plus it'll be thick.
Soup- make achi based soup, very economical, you've gotten half of the things you need up, except vegetables, uziza, bitter leaf, oha, ukazi, avoid water leaf it's scarce. Max you'll spend on this is 500, achi will do the rest. Egusi and ogbono occasionally.

If your husband is like my dad that must eat swallow, no wahala I used 2k to make okro with uziza, ugbah and panla, he loved it, he didn't want the meat, my mum ended up finishing the meat in it. I used fresh Cameroon peper. 30min prep time.
Make Ekpan, concotion rice with spinach(i see aboki carry it a lot). Make iya basira stew, hand grated tomatoes, pepper and sliced onion, fry palm oil, cut 200 pomo in bits and panla 400, salt and maggi(optional). You welcome.

Spices- buy in bulk, can last for 4months- tyme-700, curry -700, rosemary- 700, Maggi- 750.

Invest in wigs- save money when it's xmas participate in sales, make didi every 2 weeks and enjoy pouring water on your head every day.

Makeup and cream - RSQ will do lecture.
Pad- there's one always big pad they sell N5k, substitute with cheaper ones like Virony, use virony when it's just starting and switch to always when changing on day 1. Use always when going out and at night day 2 and 3, 4, and virony in doors.

    For yesterday's poster.

    Hands hurts.

She wants to save she has to plan. If she doesn't she can as well finish her money buying food. Some people would rather starve to dress well, but as it is, she's can't cos she's got mouths to feed.

Tweak the big budgets. I have a family of 6 and circa 160k is enough (except for hubby's minor expenses for fueling his own car and relatives). That burget is even up to that cos we have a new baby: so diapers, wipes, formula, babycare products, etc are factored in). We make huge savings afterwards.

Also earch for Ladybird Banks comment on that post and implement for your family size. That should come to 110k or slightly more & gradually, you find other ways to reduce further.

Go for the big budgets and review:
Cooking soups & stews (in bulk) = 15k
      Extra meat/fish/chicken = 5k
      Fuel = 12 - 15k
Baby food (Peak 123 & affordable cereal *no Golden Morn till he's 3) = 8k
      Diapers/wipes = 3.5k
      Poundo/Semo = 6k
      Veggies & Fruits = 5k
      Detergent &Laundry soaps = 1.5k
      Yam & Plantain = 4k
School runs with your car/hubby's= 10k
      Upkeep = 20k

You may never get to build that house unless you adjust or the household income increases by at least 200%.

      All the best...

    1. Called my mum this morning, and she said she's at the church cleaning. I asked if they still do that stuff, cos I remember growing up, I used to go fill in for my mum at church cleaning, when she wasn't around. She responded in a sarcastic funny way " no, we don't do it anymore, when people come to church on Sundays, they sit on chairs full of dust and worship God in a dirty environment" LMAO, my mum sure knows how to respond to yeye questions.

  37. I believe God will come through for me today and save my sister and her unborn child. After taking care of her in pregnancy and the lie lie human that got her pregnant is no where in sight. Do I have to go through what I am going now, after several tests the doctor said her baby is dead in the womb after carrying it for nine months and this is the baby every one rejected her for .where have I gone wrong? What is it I did not do right? I registered her for ante-natal, I took care of her or so I thought but now this, O God reward me for my efforts with the life of my sister and her baby. Do not allow me to labour in vain cos I don't know what to do, I have never been this confused. Stella please i need prayers for them so that I can send labour room brouhaha testimony

  38. Good morning everyone.
Hope you had a restful night?
After all my 'sleep got me' speech, I was up all through the night.
We should thank God for sleep, indeed everything in life is a gift.

  41. Blessed princess, I just read about your friend on yesterday's night post. You wrote that she is always miscarrying her pregnancy at six months, another one just happened again.
I will advice that you encourage her to visit a specialist and explain and tell them to carryout an autopsy on the dead child after Evacuation so that they will know the real cause of her still birth.
The reason I am giving this advice is because I attended an Inaugural lecture in School where the lecturer a Professor from Anatomy Department gave an example of a couple who buried three of their children at a certain age. He said he had always seen the husband come to the mortuary to carry a dead child.
When it happened the 3rd and last time, he stopped the man at the mortuary out of curiosity and persuaded him to let him carry out an autopsy on the child. The professor was able to find out the cause of the death of this 3rd child. He then asked the man to invite his wife.
This couple was examined and during the cause of investigation, they detected that there was something in both husband and wife that becomes too much in the children. They were both treated and of course they started having children again, no deaths recorded. The professor said after they started having children, anytime the husband who is a butcher in a market in Benin sees him passing by, he always sang his praises to those in the market and tell them he saved him and his family. He gives him a large chunk of meet too.

  42. I came here for Wonder Mom.
I know how it feels. You feel empty, you feel a void that nothing can fill.
Just take it a day at a time. Think of the good memories you shared with her.
I lost my mom a month ago. It's the worst thing to go through . You can have two husbands, you can have many child, but can't have two mother's.

Like you I said she hasn't even enjoyed much, but like a family friend said, there is no enjoyment in this world. Life is such a vanity.

It is well with sis .

    1. Sad @ there is no enjoyment in this world.
You just reopened old wounds. My dad also died when I just finished school, he didn't eat the fruit of his labour as I'm the first child. He did security job, gardener, farmer and even sold our deep electronics, etc to pay my school fees when he was laid off at the company where he worked. He couldn't get another reasonable job at his age. Oh dad! How he lamented when death was coming after a protracted illness. I saw him in my dreams all through my pregnancy after marriage and when I asked him in the dream why he was around, he said he was around to protect me. When I wanted to give birth and almost died, I called on him to save his only daughter. I survived with my baby. Tears. I wish I had been grounded financially and done little for him before he died. He was so sick, went blind and was in a sorry state. I wept the last time I saw him alive. I still remember his appearance. RIP daddy N
