Michael Jackson's Legacy Must Not Be Ridiculed.....

In 1987, Michael Jackson defied the law of physics when he bent forward to almost 45 degrees in his music video, Smooth Criminal.

Three researchers from India went cracking their brains and managed to get their work accepted by the esteemed Journal of Neurosurgery. It was titled "How did Michael Jackson Challenge Our Understanding of Spine Biomechanics".

Michael Jackson was and till date remains the greatest performer that ever lived. Michael Jackson is not called the " King of pop" for nothing. He earned it.

As a young child in the Jackson 5 group, his talent singled him out among his elder siblings. There was no special treatment to push him to the spotlight. His talent paved the way. Elevated by grace, the name "Michael Jackson" remains THE ONLY household name known by the young and old in every corner of the earth today and I stand to be corrected. I know his death was tragic but make no mistake, his legacy lives on and MUST NOT be ridiculed by careless comparisons.

Michael Jackson's music and style inspired almost every A-list entertainer of our time including my dear Beyonce. So, I can't understand where this sudden "extra-boost" of confidence is coming from or WHO/WHAT is beating the drum for her. She really needs to FIND A CHAIR AND SIT DOWN somewhere!! Yes. I said it! Knowing how Beyonce rolls, if her team did not endorse this whole cyber drama, they would have found a way to acknowledge respect to MJ. This is not the first time such comparison has been drawn up so they are enjoying it but now, the whole stunt is beginning to backfire.

Like many women out there, I admire Beyoncé too. One thing that endears me to her most is how she manages to keep her private life away from the prying eyes of the press. She has come a long way. On stage, she is an electrifying performer but she is no where near close to Michael Jackson. Even in death, there should be no comparison with the late king of Pop. None whatsoever. They are not mates. I would say that it is an outright insult to Michael Jackson's legacy and I have no apologies for taking this position.

Break your skeleton all you want on stage, the King of Pop is irreplaceable. There is just no room for argument. Period!

    1. Michael Jackson became all he was when social media and internet was still a dream. If he were to be alive to with the likes of Beyonce and all this current entertainers, he would prolly have 500 million followers on IG 😂

Michael Jackson is legendary. Even in death he is still trending and been compared to the living

I said it, I own it.
      No apologies whatsoever...

    4. Exactly. I hope they can leave Michael and his legacy alone. He was truly a legend. While alive I called him a living legend. I don't see why he should even be compared to Beyonce or anyone else.

  2. No doubt Beyonce has held her own in the music industry in terms of stage performance, but comparing her to Michael Jackson is an outright disrespect to MJ's legacy.

    1. MJ that did mannequin challenge at the 1993 super bowl half time performance before we knew what mannequin challenge was. He stood still for almost 3 minutes and peeps were crying and screaming. How on earth will anyone compare him to Beyonce. They're people who do not understand a word of English but will sing MJ's songs word for word.

  3. In as much as he was talented, I do not understand that "irreplaceable" tag, you mean God is tired of creating more talents? He said that "he gives without finding faults..." (google it).
In all his talent endowments, Michael destroyed himself due to lack of discipline.
Talented people should learn from this, no God, no peace. Know God, know peace.

    5. Anon 12.11 yet Michael Jackson is IRREPLACEABLE! If you really study the Bible like you claim, you'd have seen that God chooses to bless however He wants.
There are some gifts he refused to duplicate. Some good examples are Solomon's wealth and his wisdom. There were no such before him neither has there been any after him. So, whatever your beef or evny is concerning Michael Jackson who is by the way the greatest entertainer humanity has been blessed with, always remember that 'All good and perfect gifts come from above'

  8. The comparison is lowkey gender war with people like Ozzy Etomi and Eniola Hu and Doreen trying to take a stand with Beyonce. We understand the world has been unfair to women for a long time but coming back from pregnancy to perform doesn’t automatically mean you are the greatest in the world. Ozzy still get sense small but you see that Eniola Hu, she doesn’t even know if she wants to fight for women or fight against men. Same thing they said about Serena being the greatest athlete solely because she won grandslam after giving birth!

We appreciate you women and even though you thrash talk us all the time, we still love you. Some men are bad but all human beings are flawed anyway so just as there are bad men, there are bad women too. However this gender war has to stop!

    1. Ybnl you're current. You see that Doreen and Ozzy I pity The men around them. Those women are not feminists, they're men haters hiding under feminism. As for Eniola that one is beyond redemption. These women are too bitter forming feminist. As for Gbemi the OAP that one is a coward under g feminist. She doesn't have lever like the rest so she quickly retweets anything they tweet. I pity anyone that falls for that bitterness they peddle on Twitter as feminism. Everything isn't a gender war, the future is neither female nor male. The future is us all both male and female. We should all strive to know better and do better irrespective of our gender.

    3. Women in the interior villages give birth at home, the next day are you fetching water and cooking. What am I even saying? My friend’s mom delivered herself in Kaduna, cleaned up before she sent for her sister. I would like to be seen as a feminist but that doesn’t translate to senselessness. People should stop unnecessary comparisons please. Micheal Jackson is the greatest living or dead.

    4. Thank you! Reason I had to unfollow Doreen. Her feminism is toxic.

  15. When Beyonce wins a grammy award for the best musician of the Century, when she maintain her popularity for at least 35 years steady, when she get her hits around the world without social media, itunes and other streaming services;then she can talk.

Knowing all these are impossible, please beyhive should sit down calmly. From who to where? She still copies Michael Jackson with some of her outfits and dance moves!! If you are an ardent follower of Jackson's music you will see the trend in what Bey does.

THERE CAN NEVER BE ANOTHER MICHAEL JACKSON WHO DID WHAT HE DID THE WAY HE DID AT THE TIME HE DID. PERIOD. Zero nudity, zero drama, zero stunts, no rants or quarrels with anyone just PURE TALENT. That was Michael.

    1. There is no such Grammy as best musician of the century. There is the Grammy Hall of Fame, but Beyonce will only be eligible when she has spent 25 years or more in the industry. So she'll probably be inducted in the next 5 years/

    2. Chikito, calm down! Yes, Beyonce has always said Michael was her inspiration. Leave Beyonce alone and concentrate on the people doing the comparisons.
Also, Beyonce has 23 Grammy Awards. Michael had only 13.

    3. @15:07 Go and watch grammy awards of year 2000 (or 2001)- if you can find it, centennial recognition (maybe I paraphrased) was given to Michael Jackson for his evolution through decades.

@15:18 its like you didnt eat Easter rice this afternoon. Did you not see where I said 'beyhive'?? Please take several seats.

    4. Tell them Chikito. Beyonce and tried but even if she manages to gather 50 grammies, she CANNOT be compared to MJ. Period!

    5. Zero drama, you say?
Shall I remind you of the great trial of 1993? I mean, his strong love for children?
      The bleaching controversies?
      The Propofol addiction?
The metamorphosis into something so repulsive and inhuman?
Please please please! Your bleaching, little boy loving fave was not perfect. There's a good chance that in 20-30 years, his legacy would be tarnished as a molester of little boys. Oprah is working hard at it!

  18. Someone said it's like comparing Kano Rangers to Real Madrid

  19. Michael is the greatest, no doubt. He is a pioneer. An innovator. HE IS THE SOURCE! PERIODT!
That said, I hate the way people are using this issue to insult Beyonce.
For God's sake, leave Beyonce alone. She hasn't done anything to y'all. That woman minds her own business and doesn't look for anybody's trouble. She doesn't even clapback at people and yet because a few over-zealous fans compared her to MJ, people are dismissing her legacy and her achievements.
At the end of the day, Beyonce has always cited Michael as her biggest inspiration. Michael Jackson also had a huge crush on Beyonce (he said so himself) and was so happy to meet her. They are both icons in their own right.
It's sad because everyone was praising Beyonce's documentary and her hard work before all this nonsense distracted everyone.

    1. I don't think people are dismissing her. The problem is with those trying to compare them. There is no comparison between her and MJ. She would look smaller. Just saying......

      Delete
  20. Stella, it's really wrong and absolutely LUDICROUS of you to imply that Beyonce is encouraging this. I really love you but sometimes you talk out of turn! Beyonce has ALWAYS cited Michael as an inspiration.
-At her Formation tour at the O2 in 2016, she paid tribute to Michael and said his performance encouraged her to love music.
-Her entire Superbowl performance was a tribute to Michael Jackson's 1993 Superbowl performance.
-In 2011, she performed at a tribute concert to him.
It's like people always have super-human expectations of Beyonce. The woman cannot do ANYTHING RIGHT in your eyes! What more should she do to show that she loves and respects MJ? No, she should bring him back to life, abi?! Right now, she is somewhere playing with her children and signing $60 million deals with Netflix and you people STILL find a way to smear her with controversy! SMH it's such a shame. Because you can't accuse her of anything, you are now giving her frivolous accusations.

  24. The way Nigerians carried this for head yesterday was very annoying. And as for the writer trying to insinuate that Beyonce started this as a stunt, where is your proof? It started as one person's opinion on Nigerian twitter yesterday and escalated from there because Nigerians don't know how to respect other people's opinion. Beyoncé has nothing to gain from comparing herself to Michael for publicity when she was tweeted about 2 million times when the documentary came out. It sad to see people use both artists to diminish each other when they both loved and respected each other when Michael was alive. Michael once went to Diddy's party just to get him to introduce him to Beyoncé back in the days. Nigeria has a lot of issues of its own which this writer can address than this article which does nothing but bait fans of the two artists.
