UNIPORT Ignores Court Order And Demands That Graduated Students Return To Repeat Final Year + One Alleges Commits Suicide.

The University Of Port Harcourt has refused to let its 2016 set of graduates go...It is a sad story.....Please read and help spread this to anyone who can mediate ad broke a settlement.............#sad

According to the story,University of Port Harcourt Students ranging to over 1227 who graduated in 2016, had their names approved in the in the graduating list, published in the convocation brochure, done and finished clearance, and most of who have been issued certificates and has their names mobilize for NYSC in 2016 were asked to come back and repeat their final year because “ They PAID their school fees for that section LATE”.

According to the affected Students...

''The school management set that impromptu policy which led to the protest and death of a final year student by name Peter Ofurum on April 11th 2016. The school was shut down for that incident for over 3 months.

The fate of the students hung in thin air as the university’s directives that they should repeat class has kept them stagnant and confused. All attempts and several appeals to the university management to reverse that policy and let them go was proved abortive as the university gave no positive response but rather kept their fates hanging for over a year.

The students resorted to approach the judiciary which they recognize as the hope of the common man.

Luckily for us, we got in contact with our lawyers who had pity and took up the legal action without charging a dime. After all court proceedings within few months, Judgment was given and delivered in our Favour( attached is a copy of the judgment given by the Judge in the federal high court ).

The judgement contained that the university should mobilize us for NYSC, writhing 14 days, refund us our monies which include another 45k we were asked to pay to validate the one they termed as been paid late and also publish apologies in 2 national dailies.

Out of respect for our alma matter we wrote to the university, through our lawyers suggesting a waiver for the refund of monies which amounts to over 65 million naira and also the apologies, For our certificates to be issued for those who haven’t been issued and also for all to be mobilized for NYSC.

The management of the school through their lawyers agreed to negocaite with us to that effect but since nov. 21, 2018 when the judgment was given till now, the university and its lawyers has kept on posting the process as a deliberate attempt to further aggravate things by delaying us more. We were even more shocked that the university has gone ahead to appeal the case at the appeal.

It’s now 3 years since we graduated and our fate still hanging yet to be decided at the appeal.

We wish to bring again to notice of the general public, the gross violation of the rule of law, administrative rascality and adjunct mis-conduct been perpetrated by the megalomaniac management of the university led by the vice chancellor.

Attached is the judgment and judgment orders and other relevant docs to verify our claims...The names of the plaintiffs withheld for security reasons''.

    2. Extra year for paying school fees late. Does that sound well in your ears?

    3. You obviously lack that common sense. The school is trying to rob them blind and pocket millions of naira that will be spent by the heads and trample their rights and efforts in the mud and you are advocating they roll over and accept it?
You call it time wasting? I call fighting for ones right and due, wicked men who deny one ones dues and setting things in order to prevent abuse of power on the students that are coming up.

  14. Uniport and Uniosun are end time schools. The affected students should take to the streets to protest. A child born in 2016 should be 3years.Administrative rascality is the main problem we are facing in Nigerian universities.

  20. this does not give a full picture of this situation. how does paying fee late means they must repeat a class? did they join the school session late? how late after session started? if they paid late and fulfilled all the necessary course work why are they asked to repeat? this letter doesn't say much

If ure only in Uniport or get closer to uniport u will understand ,The vc closes portal after few weeks of the resumption of every section.. So if u didn't meet up withing those few weeks ur studentship is invalid.. Is so incredible it has shattered many students
