YPP Presidential Candidate Kingsley Moghalu Quits Politics And Blasts Nigerian Youths

The presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu has announced his withdrawal from partisan politics. He blasted Nigerian youths for the role they played during the elections.

Moghalu, was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He regretted that the youths did not make their presence felt during the polls.

He said, “The biggest disappointment was with the youths. The youth vote was absent. They make a lot of noise, they rant and rail but you will not see them on the voting day. And when they vote, they don’t vote in line with their rhetoric.”

Asked if the election witnessed improvement when compared to 2015, Moghalu said that chaos marred some polling centres coupled with an alleged organisational inefficiency shortly before the commencement of voting.

“The organisational efficiency and effectiveness of the election was generally weak. We saw it. First, it was postponed at the last minute and in many parts of the country, there was chaos at the polling booths especially in rural areas,” he added.

He further advised President Muhammadu Buhari to justify the votes and work hard, noting that the Federal Government should focus on three cores areas bordering on national unity, building a vibrant economy and the nation’s security.

    1. Well victory doesn't come easy, does it? The likes of Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi etc went through hell. He himself is not ready.

  4. Sir don't be angry. There's nothing we could have done against kano, kaduna and katsina...if you know, you know
Even if the remaining country should vote for you, those three states up there alone would make you lose cos of the way they are

    1. Kokolet, this is why we make uninformed decisions/ comments. Please allow me share how it works ok? An aspirant has to have 25% in 2/3 of the states of the whole nation. That is 2/3 votes of each of the 36 states plus FCT. It is not just a function of the three K states. Remember there was also the big aspirant from pdp. And even Mr sowore covered more grounds than Mr Kingsley. While Mr Durotoye spent his time campaigning on the island and among elites that wont stay in the sun. Mr Moghalu did not stand a chance. He wasn't prepared. He who fails to plan, has planned to fail.
You don't come out a year ahead of a major election and expect to cover good grounds. He is retiring just like Jimi agbaje does every 4 years but will come out in 2022 and expect to win in 2023. It doesn't work that way kokolet, momentum must be built. It's a marathon not a sprint.

    2. I was been slightly sacarstic. We have a long way to go in our democracy journey in this country. The main voters are the illitrates, they have concluded it's strictly between apc and PDP and they're the majority. Where do we start?

  5. I supported Moghalu too, he should have persevere instead of giving up. Nigerians are not ready for a TRUE change.

  7. People need to build a platform before contesting in Nigeria. Don't just appear like wili wili and think you'll be voted into power.

It's how the system works here unfortunately.

  8. I blame the youth o..we need to do more with our actions not words, not retweets, not re granns. We are fickle and we pay for it dearly. Where are all the people asking for their stolen mandate? Attention has been shifted to other issues.

  9. He said the truth, its not about Nigeria not been ready, but the youths only shout online

  10. Go to your street and ask people if they know this man and you'll be surprised that almost everyone you ask doesn't know him. Is that how you'll win an election when nobody knows you? You think you can just wake up one morning, start blowing grammar like a professor and that's all you need to run for the number one office? And all the years of experience people like Buhari have is child's play? Oga, go and do your homework again and come back and by then, start as a Chancellor!

  11. I just hope he won't come out tomorrow to say he's under pressure to move his supporters to APC.

  12. Many youths in Nigeria are not ready for good leadership.I am happy with with what the Algerian youths and Sudanese youths are doing. Most Nigerian youths spends their time slaying on instagram. I regret being a Nigerian.

  13. Professor I like you but Nigerians prefer grassroot politics. You don’t just come out and say you want to run...Pick up a cause, let your voice be heard. Don’t lay low now and come out in 4years time...it doesn’t work like that in Nigeria.
Also to note 50% of educated youths in Nigeria aren’t patriotic, I was and then reality hit me...if people don’t believe in the nation, tell me how they will support you.

    1. You just read my mind. It's a pity he is giving up on time. He can't just come out of the blues and expect everyone to do his bidding. What happens to the saying that " if you don't succeed, dust yourself and try again". Even the former president whom we thought had the presidency on a platter of gold started as a local government chairman. My advice is that he should go back to the drawing board and re- strategies all over, for he is too young to give up.

  14. My candidate... Even though I knew he won't win I preferred him to the other candidates. He has a functional brain.

  15. He's my brother but it's not yet time.

He needs to build his political structure and form solid alliances, starting from grassroots.

You don't wake up and win a Presidential seat.

    This is Nigeria!

  16. Oga you don't just give up like that so easily. This is Nigeria- if you fail promotion exam shebi you go repeat the class 🤷🤷. Go and restudy very well and come back for the examination after four years
